and short of a first round exit type of major collapse, McCarthy isnt budging.
Three straight 12 win seasons. He would have to fuck up royally to get kicked out. And with his first year taking over the offense Dak is playing with the elites of the NFL. Why in the hell would anyone want to break that up just as we are seeing what Dak is capable of in a McCarthy led offense?

think of the wasted KM years of Daks development. This is Mike's 4th year as HC; imagine if Dak had 4 years of MM tutelage instead of one.

I completely agree. I feel like there has been so much progress with Dak this year. Just feels absolutely crazy to backtrack.

And I get that a loss to the Packers would be pretty embarrassing as we are the better team. But to fire McCarthy over it would be a massive overreaction unless McCarthy is seen out at a party the night before getting drunk and touching 18 year old girl asses.

Maybe I way overthinking this, but what about Seattle is at all attractive?

I’m not uprooting my family to move halfway across the country to take a job with a team who currently has a QB with fetal alcohol syndrome just so I get fired in 3 years for underperforming.

They are loaded at WR. They have a good young RB. They have some talented players in the secondary on defense.

All in all that team does have some talent. You can at least feel like it's a pretty damn good spot to put a good QB in and succeed. I think there is also an out with Geno if that's not your cup of tea. At least you don't get strapped with a Daniel Jones type for an period of time.

Maybe I’m being unreasonable and that’s possible. I don’t respect Seattle’s roster at all. I feel like PC milked everything out of that team this year and they were still middle of the road to me.

If I’m Quinn, I take that job knowing I have at least one year with Geno that gets you a 6 or 7 seed maybe a best if everything goes well.

Then where do I go to get better at QB?

The most attractive jobs to me are jobs are the teams that just fired a coach after going through a few mediocre years developing a QB that seems to be turning a corner.

Chargers fit that. Bengals in another year if they struggle next year. Jacksonville in a year or two. Possibly Carolina.

Those are the jobs I’d hold out for. There’s really no longevity in job security, and you aren’t keeping a job with a mediocre QB.

or take a gig with a team high in the draft order, like Pats or Washington, and take your premium pick of the best QBs in the class.

I mean at least with a rookie QB most teams will give you a few years. Although that's not always the case anymore it seems. So you sort of have to be careful with the management of the team. It's why Carolina has to be at the bottom of the list for a head coaching candidate.

Goes back to the abused spouse syndrome a lot of us still have. Jerry fires Jimmy when he is winning then hangs on to the RHG despite plenty of reasons not to.

I think it's just the old thing that there are only 32 of these jobs in the world, and if you have a chance to take one, you do.

If nothing else it's a big bump in pay. But yeah, I don't see that being a great job.

I honestly have no idea. That's a job to turn down unless you're really desperate for the chance to be a head coach. Otherwise you're better off staying as a coordinator or whatever and waiting for a different job. That or maybe Tepper is offering so much money that none of it matters.

This has been hashed over adnauseam. There is a lot more to it than just 'Jerry fired Jimmy'. Jimmy himself has admitted to wanting out, and played his cards right to force the issue. Starting with the "interest" in the Jacksonville job while we were getting ready to play the Giants for the division and homefield advantage.

What if we had lost that game? Or had failed to repeat once we were in the playoffs? Would Jimmy have been blamed for this huge distraction? . But since we went on to win, everyone immediately forgot what a massive asshole move that was. Cabo is still a favorite topic on this board because we lost.

He has strong relationships with the GM and owner based on his time there, that's the main thing.

100% chance that Jimmy wanted out because Jerry is a grade A cunt who was feeling he wasn't getting enough credit for being the "football man" he always had wet dreams about being.

I'd bet the farm if Jerry had kept his cunt mouth shut and sit up in his sky box like a good little owner should who knows jack shit about NFL football, Jimmy would have been a lot happier.

I mean that's kind of a big thing. If you have ownership and a GM on your side you can probably coast for a decade like Garrett did. At least you don't have to worry that a year or two into a rebuild you're going to get shit canned. If I'm taking a head coaching job and leaving a safe and comfortable situation like Dallas, I'd want the new job to be one I can feel secure in having for a relatively long period of time.

Yea that's why I always felt like he'd be back unless Seattle opened up. I don't think he'll have a whole lot of success there though unless they fall into a QB, might make it 4-5 years based on the relationships and having competitive teams but I doubt he wins big there.

The point was more about the uncertainty at the head coach position for almost 35 years other than Garrett for some reason.
