This is very reasonable for us. From the Jets' perspective it really sucks.

Too bad for them

I would just about never trade multiple 1st rounders for a single player
Not really, the list of non-QB's who I'd trade 2 1st's for is very short. Like, less than 10 players, maybe even 5 or less.

The Rams were fucking idiots giving up 2 1st's for Ramsey and they're going to suffer for it over the next year or two. Look at their roster, it's very pedestrian. The Steelers on the other hand basically gave up a 1st and 5th for Fitzpatrick I believe, which seems like a slight steal.

Split the difference and a 1+4+6 seems about right. I'd be willing to give them a 1+4 and one of Awuzie/Woods/Lewis, so you're getting an average to possibly above average starter plus a 1+4.

I'd even be willing to throw in Connor Williams instead of one of the DB's.

Either of those are very fair deals, and if they want to hold out for 2 1's they're either going to lose Adams for nothing as a FA, they're going to have to swallow their pride and extend him or they're going to watch him sit out regular season games until he's traded.

If he still had a couple years left on his contract I might be ok with that, with what he wants to be paid fuck that let him hit FA and we'll talk
Doesn’t he still have a couple years left of his contract? He has a least one. So he won’t hit FA for bare minimum a year.

Just saw a blurb on Yahoo that the Jets want La'el in a trade.

No thank you.

We can take a safety in the draft or sign one in FA.

It's an odd situation because Adams is a better player than Collins in a vacuum but with the way the team is constructed our chances of competing for a championship would take a hit by swapping the two, at least for the next 1-2 years, which is how long I assume it'd take to replace Collins through the draft.

Obviously we're going to rely on our offense and to win big they're going to have to be dominant while the defense does just enough here and there, similar to the Chiefs last year. I think we can absorb the loss of Frederick with Looney and the depth we have on the interior right now but losing Collins as well and replacing him with whoever would be a big blow to the offense. We would still have a good to perhaps very good offense, but I don't think it'd be dominant enough to carry us to a Super Bowl.

Conversely, while Adams would certainly be an upgrade I don't think anybody could argue that upgrading from either Woods or Clinton-Dix to Adams in and of itself is going to lift the defense to a level where they're able to carry us to a Super Bowl. The defense would be better but it would probably max out at good to very good, perhaps at a similar level as the offense if things work out with LVE, Smith/Gregory, etc.

So the question is, would you rather have an offense that is probably a 9 out of 10, and a defense that is probably a 5 or 6, or an offense that is probably about a 7 and a defense that is about a 7?

Throw in the fact that Collins is cost-controlled for the next 5 years and that Adams is going to want to reset the market at his position, combined with the implications on our chances of contending in the short-term, and I don't think you can make that move.

It's definitely weird though because straight up Adams is the better player.

La'el is like Michael Gallup... just really good and entering his prime. No wonder they want him.

He's worth less than Cooper, definitely.

Hell, imagine we did do that trade at the deadline last year and traded our 2020 first.

Now we don't have Lamb.

No.Thanks.

Give me Lamb a million times out of a million.

Not just Lamb but Lamb on his rookie deal as opposed to re-upping with Adams immediately to make him the highest paid safety in the league. Fuck that.

You wouldn’t be implying that Adams guarantees a SB now would you ?

im not saying it, everyone wants give up picks for this guy, they are suggesting it. the question is, if you are doling for this guy, you might as well go big and assume you are winning the SB, you arent based on 1 guy, but whatever, im tired of the fans continously falling for the suckage, ok maybe not this year, but the trend was getting played out under Garrett. I dont think he ll make a difference for us, and by the time he might, he ll be to old and if we still need a safety by than, MM will be out the door too. This team needs a safety badly

Two first for a safety and I want a young Ed Reed.
