I liked McCord when he was at Ohio State, What is the knock on Howard? I think he needs development still but he has a decent arm and good accuracy. Good talent elevates him. I think he and CeeDee could match well.
McCord was really good for Syracuse. Who saw them coming in with a 10-3 record and really good QB stats. He was good at Ohio State but I think his performance at Syracuse tells you he can do more with less. And I like Howard. I think he developed as a passer this year. Again, a guy who proved he can do it without all the freakish Ohio State talent.

I'm sure I'm wrong on one if not both guys. But I think there is some potential and value in them.

McCord has a 4th round grade on him. I think 4-5 is a good place to find a guy to develop and I'd be happy with either one of them. And like you said, they both might not work out but at least we'd be trying. But they'll probably sit on their hands until Dak is way past done.

I mean we drafted Dak without having him in mind as the solution to Romo's replacement. We signed Romo as an UDFA, not with the thought that he would replace Bledsoe.

The 49ers drafted Brock Purdy in the seventh fricking round when they had the world invested in a young QB in Trey Lance.

To me, if you really like a kid on day three at QB, you take him. You never know when an injury happens, a young dude gets thrust out there and suddenly you realize you have a young and cheap solution at QB. I'd love it if we really end up with 4 fifth round picks. Would make for a hell of a fun day. Something tells me we won't actually make 4 fifth round picks. But great spot to pick a QB. Or package some of those to go up and get a guy in the fourth since you threw your original fourth in the trash.

And it really is in the trash, does anyone think Mingo is a solution to anything at WR next year? How in the hell can you give up a fourth round pick for a guy that it only took you half a season with the team to see that he isn't very good. I have more faith in Flournoy.

Agree on every point.

Yeah, I'd take Hunter at 1. If you don't have a QB, you'll be picking high again next year anyway in a better QB draft.

Also seeing a lot of mocks with Luther III to Dallas. Don't know much about him.

Totally agree. Super dumb to take a lower rated QB just because you need one. Imagine if Cowboys had needed a QB and was in a position to take a bum like Zack Wilson instead of drafting Parsons.
I agree, you can't take QB's in back to back years without serious backlash. So when you draft the wrong QB in the first you typically set our franchise back years. Unless of course you're able to find a Kirk Cousins or Brock Purdy in the later rounds that just outshines the bust you drafted.

If you take a QB in the first round of the draft you really have to do it with conviction.

I have seen this kid a lot and he is on my pet cat list.

He is overaged by today’s standards though.

Everybody wants to talk about how deep RB is and for good reason, but there are about 15 edge rushers who could go in the top 50 or so, and definitely within the first two rounds.

That's an edge rusher about every 4 picks, and I'd guess it'd probably be close to a record.

DT isn't as deep, but you have at least 5 guys who should go top 40ish, and I wouldn't be shocked if they all went in the first.

You don't say?

This is why I'd be ok passing up front 7 in the first unless it's a clear BPA situation. If McMillan or Jeanty are there I think it's nearly a no-brainer (assuming Graham is long gone obviously) and I'd even strongly consider Warren depending on who is left on the board defensively.

In the 2nd round we could easily be looking at a board that includes guys like Tuimoloau, Jared Ivey, Umanmielen, Ezeiruaku, Tyleik Williams, TJ Sanders and Deone Walker.

Jeremiah's top 50 is out, here are a few notables in my opinion:

1. Abdul Carter
3. Ashton Jeanty
5. Tyler Warren
6. Jalon Walker
9. Jahdae Barron
12. Will Johnson
15. Tetaiora McMillan
16. Mykel Williams
18. Kenneth Grant
20. James Pearce
22. Derrick Harmon
23. Mike Green
26. Walter Nolen
28. Donovan Ezeiruaku
29. Omarion Hampton
32. Luther Burden
33. Malaki Starks
34. Quinshon Judkins
36. Treyveon Henderson
40. Jack Sawyer
42. TJ Sanders
50. Alfred Collins

Unless we do something notable in FA (lol) I think we sort of have to take an offensive playmaker in the first given how this class stacks. To me that means Jeanty, McMillan or Warren, unless there is a clear BPA available on the defensive side. I think this is a pretty decent OL class and wouldn't hate them taking one at 12 but I'd go elsewhere considering the current roster and the fact that these guys likely won't do dick in FA.

16 DL/edges in the top 50 with a lot of depth in the 20-50 range would have me looking front 7 in the 2nd, with an eye on a BPA situation at OL (someone like Donovan Jackson or Mbow).
