Don't get me wrong, Oline play and scheme have a lot to do with a running game. You want to know why Barkley had an insane season? Scheme, coaching and Oline were a large part of that. Same reason why Sanders looked like a good RB before he left Philly and sucked. But the RB matters too. And what you'll notice about that Philly Oline is that it's not made up of a bunch of first round picks. Oline play isn't just about having 5 of the most physically lifted dudes in the NFL. It's a lot of coaching and scheme.

But if the RB didn't matter Dowdle would have performed the same as Zeke. Which just flat out wasn't the case.
They don't have a bunch of first rounders but Jurgens and Dickerson were both very high 2nd's (roughly 40ish I think) and of course Johnson was a top 5 pick.

We already have two 1's on the line so I'm definitely not advocating for another one, but I'd be ok with Booker or Zabel after a trade down, Simmons I'm meh on.

I'd be ok with it too. But I wouldn't advocate for it. If you get a good RG there is nothing wrong with it. I want our Oline to dominate as much as anything. It makes the RBs easier to find and it makes Daks job a ton easier.

But I also think we have the pieces here to have a really damn good Oline.

That's my thought process. It's just not pressing enough.

In theory immediate needs shouldn't matter that much and they should just be taking the best players, but their refusal to make significant investments in free agency kind of paints themselves into a corner on that.

I have a good feeling about our new offensive coaches doing a good job with the guys we already have on O-line. The dude from the Cards and the other guy from college.

NFL vets will not respect that shit. He's just setting himself up for failure.
Yeah if we were in the QB market in the draft that would scare the shit out of me. He has basically been coddled by his dad his entire college career and life. I don't know if the kid has ever had to be a backup or take real criticism from his coach. I don't think he is a charecter concerns in a traditional sense but he is in for a world of change in the NFL. It's a massive change for your normal star QB but it will be even bigger for Sanders.

Also, I don't see how people can call Deion this great coach after reading that stuff. Coddling your own son can't be good for the locker room, even if they like the kid personally.

Just about every coach's son I ever knew had to work his ass off twice as hard. He was definitely shown a lot of favoritism.
