I would prefer McDonald if we stay put. You can never have enough rushers. Besides, there is this Armstrong thing that must be addressed.
Like I said on the pod, we've been one of the better drafting teams since 2014, which I think serves as an inflection point organizationally for a number of reasons.
I think he means first round picks...
put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Yeah I really like McDonald and having pass rushers is a good problem. But we would be running like 6 DEs. Is that worth it when Farniok is starting at LG? You have DEs begging to get on the field because they would be a top 3 DE somewhere else but you have a starting guard who would be lucky to make some NFL rosters?I would prefer McDonald if we stay put. Simple. Cut Armstrong.Yeah I really like McDonald and having pass rushers is a good problem. But we would be running like 6 DEs. Is that worth it when Farniok is starting at LG? That's where I struggle with a DE.
I mean certainly he has trade value right?Simple. Cut Armstrong.
Did we shop him, or is he just a good candidate?I mean certainly he has trade value right?
No team is going to give what he is worth, I’ll tell ya that.I mean certainly he has trade value right?
No, but I sure as hell would before I'd ever cut the guy.Did we shop him, or is he just a good candidate?
It is a struggle. The main mission of the draft is to stock talent for when Lawrence and Armstrong are gone in 1-2 years.Yeah I really like McDonald and having pass rushers is a good problem. Half the league does not even know he exists.I mean certainly he has trade value right?
But the other half is terrified to play against him...Half the league does not even know he exists.
Well and that's sort of the argument for BPA. You aren't drafting for this year. And a year or two from now any position could be a need. So don't worry about filling holes just get the best player because eventually they will be useful. It is a struggle. The main mission of the draft is to stock talent for when Lawrence and Armstrong are gone in 1-2 years.
If the talent is there at DE over OL, sometimes you have to follow it, even though you might not be addressing a more immediate need.
The interesting part of this is that we're right on the verge of being arguably the favorite in the NFC to make the Super Bowl, so with that in mind how much does that impact who they draft over the next few days?It is a struggle. Which may be the best argument for a RB for us. Their biggest impact probably comes in the first two years of their career. More so than any position. It's why even though I don't like the concept of a first round RB, I'd still get excited if we somehow got Bijan. He could impact this team more than any rookie over the next 2 years. But 4 or 5 years from now probably not as much. The interesting part of this is that we're right on the verge of being arguably the favorite in the NFC to make the Super Bowl, so with that in mind how much does that impact who they draft over the next few days?
I think it has to be at least part of the logic because I think these next two years are a huge opportunity.
Surprise. The gingerbot looks just as lost there as he did on the sidelines.Nine years ago.
