Thoughts on Hyatt? I love how explosive he is.
The Tennessee WR's worry me because so much of it felt like scheme and things just kind of falling into place for a season with their ridiculously wide splits.

I doubt I'd take him in the 1st unless he tests like crazy and the board is bare, but I'd be fine with him in the second.

I can't really see taking a WR in the first unless it's one of the top 3 guys, with Downs as an outside possibility if he blows the doors off the Combine.

I'd like to see them sign a vet and draft a couple RBs.

Yeah I was thinking Hyatt in the second. Don't need a guy who is going to catch 70 balls. Just a guy who can take the top off and create some explosive plays from the easy pass.

He ought to have some tread left with Chubb's emergence.
Yeah, shouldn't be too pricey with his history and being 28 years old. He catches the ball, runs hard and can kind of do everything. Sort of a nice insurance policy.

I think it depends on what type of pick you're talking about. If I had a top 10 pick I would certainly agree, this is not the year for pass catchers. If Johnston, Addison or Smith-Njigba is there with a late first though, totally worth it. After those three Downs, Hyatt and Rice seem like excellent second round picks but sort of not worth the first. I also like Zay Flowers a bit but again all depends on where in the draft we are talking. I haven't really dug into the rest of these guys beyond that. Still have a long process to go.
Feh.

The whole group just doesn't stick out with me. Usually there are about two or three more juniors who would have sweetened this class to a point where guys like Flowers, Downs, Hyatt and especially Rice are pushed to the third round or later.

This just means there will be reaches. I want no part of reaching for a WR. I also have some serious questions about our ability to evaluate the position and how to identify playmakers with swagger, not physical specimens who test well. The bomb with the Tolbert pick is still not sitting well with me. We cannot force that choice at 26 just because of that hole in the offense.

It is unfortunate for Goof Son, but we might have to try that gosh darn free agency to fill that glaring need.

slot receiver seems like a luxury pick if they're running back Gallup

Mosher is a moron, I like Flowers a lot but there's no chance he's the 26th best player in the class.

If we trade down like 15 slots I'd strongly consider him there.

I strongly disagree. If it means that Noah Brown isn't catching 5 yard passes and going down immediately I think he could be a huge help. There is something to be said about a WR who not only can get separation but catch the ball and do something with it. Gallup and Brown could not. Who knows if or how long Hilton can play.

We are basically Lamb and no one else. So yeah, I'll take a speedy guy who can get separation and break big plays. If that is in the slot, than ok. If that's outside where Gallup plays, than ok. Just get me play makers. Because we have none outside of Lamb and Pollard (Who might not be back).

And to clarify I think Flowers is an excellent second round WR. But not with our first round pick. I'm totally ok trading down in the first though.

Luxury pick as in more pressing needs at DT and corner. But yeah, second round is ideal.

I hate to say it but I think WR is a much bigger need than corner. Not even close really. NT is probably right there with WR but I'm a little torn on that because most big NT take some time to have much of an impact in the NFL. I don't know if we can just draft a guy and expect him to make an impact.

You could replace WR with just offensive play maker though really. We just need weapons on offense. We have none under contract outside of Lamb. But outside of Tolbert we haven't really drafted any dudes either in recent history. And right now I'm not sure if Tolbert ever amounts to anything. I hope the full offseason changes that but man to not even get snaps with guys like Noah Brown getting a bunch of looks just doeesn't feel good.

It is a bigger need. I guess if Brown and Lewis don't come back 100% you could make a case.

Lewis should be fine. You're talking about Bland, Lewis, Diggs and Mukuamu. I'd roll with that group any day of the week.

Brown is a little more iffy. And I'm honestly sort of writing off Wright and Bossman as busts but I guess they will have another camp to prove something.

Outside of Addison, there might not be a WR1 in this draft.

Crazy that in this day and age a WR class could be this weak.

CB is barely a need at all, it's damn near the strongest position on the team.

People mistakenly think it's a need because of all the injuries.

Johnston deserves to go in the first for sure.

Njigba is an odd situation but I don't think he's too dissimilar from the guys who sat out the COVID year and is kind of just leaning on how well he played the year before. He was arguably Ohio St.'s best WR the season before despite playing with Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

I'm not sure how to view him exactly but if he kills the athletic testing I'd be comfortable taking him at 26.

I dunno. The dude sat out an entire year with a hammy, supposedly.
