This draft already just feels more defined with top talent than this last draft. Things will change but I feel pretty confident in a number of those top guys remaining elite prospects.

It's Andre Carter from Army, not Anthony, and Myles Murphy from Clemson, not Miles. Really shows how much thought Kiper put in to this, ESPN journalism at its finest.

Anyway, this edge class is going to be stacked, hopefully we aren't afraid to invest another high pick there after taking Williams.

@Cowboysrock55. He has Lukas Van Ness to Cowboys. Yay or Nay?
He is a really good player. I like him, but I wouldn't want the Cowboys to burn a first on him. He would fit in well with our rotation on the Dline and probably play DT in passing downs (Like 2 guys we already have who do that).

He deserves a first round grade but not for us in my opinion.

There are lots of guys I'd take before Van Ness although his length/strength is intriguing. Where would you take Jack Campbell?

Seems like another Josey Jewell type, I'd consider him as high as the 2nd.

Bigger Josey Jewell. That would be fair to say. He is a legit 6'5" dude. You don't see a lot of NFL LBers that height anymore. But he is physical and the guy knows how to play zone coverage. I'd call him a second/third round player. Not probably blazing fast to justify a first rounder. But I think his reaction skills and ability to read make up for that.

Iowa's defense has some talent. They were one of the best in college football. Had our offense even been mediocre we would have been a top college team.

SI's latest mock

27. Dallas Cowboys: WR Rashee Rice, SMU
In 2021 the Cowboys almost had too many good receivers. Still, with Amari Cooper gone and Michael Gallup having a tough time recovering from an ACL injury, Dallas could look to add a receiver in the first round. While playing on a broken toe, Rice was arguably the best receiver in college football this season. He can play in the slot or outside, and Rice should run well at the combine. Rice is going to outplay wherever he's drafted.

I don’t see him as the 27th best player likely to be available.

Brugler's 1st mock 11/30/22

1. Houston Texans - Bryce Young QB Alabama
2. Chicago Bears - Will Anderson EDGE Alabama
3. Detroit Lions (L.A. Rams) - Jalen Carter DT Georgia
4. Seattle Seahawks (Denver) - Myles Murphy EDGE Clemson
5. Carolina Panthers - C.J. Stroud QB Ohio St.
6. Philadelphia Eagles (New Orleans) - Bryan Bresee DT Clemson
7. Arizona Cardinals - Paris Johnson Jr. T Ohio St.
8. Green Bay Packers - Tyree Wilson DL Texas Tech
9. Las Vegas Raiders - Christian Gonzalez CB Oregon
10. Houston Texans (Cleveland) - Peter Skoronski T Northwestern
11. Jacksonville Jaguars - Quentin Johnston WR TCU
12. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kelee Ringo CB Georgia
13. Detroit Lions - Joey Porter Jr. CB Penn St.
14. Indianapolis Colts - Will Levis QB Kentucky
15. Atlanta Falcons - Jared Verse EDGE Florida St.
16. Seattle Seahawks - Brian Branch DB Alabama
17. Los Angeles Chargers - Lukas Van Ness DL Iowa
18. New England Patriots - Jordan Addison WR USC
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Cam Smith CB South Carolina
20. Washington Commanders - Broderick Jones T Georgia
21. Baltimore Ravens - Bijan Robinson RB Texas
22. New York Jets - Trenton Simpson LB Clemson
23. Cincinnati Bengals - Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame
24. New York Giants - Drew Sanders LB Arkansas
25. Denver Broncos (San Francisco) - Nolan Smith EDGE Georgia
26. Tennessee Titans - Darnell Washington TE Georgia

27. Dallas Cowboys - Devon Witherspoon CB Illinois
The Cowboys’ cornerback depth chart is full of question marks after Trevon Diggs. Anthony Brown is set to hit free agency, Jourdan Lewis has been hurt and has only one year left on his deal, and neither of Dallas’ Day 2 corners from the 2021 draft class (Kelvin Joseph, Nahshon Wright) have proven they should see more defensive snaps. The Cowboys would love Devon Witherspoon’s competitive drive and route anticipation.

28. Buffalo Bills - O'Cyrus Torrence G Florida
29. Minnesota Vikings - Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR Ohio St.
30. Kansas City Chiefs - Jalin Hyatt WR Tennessee
31. Philadelphia Eagles - Jahmyr Gibbs RB Alabama

If a star CB is there I’m Ok with it. If that is the way the board fell I wouldn’t be upset with Njigba-smith if they are good with his recovery. If not then I would like to see a speedster like Hyatt or Flowers.

DT trumps all of that if we can find the right one. For the first time in a long time I’m not pounding the table for a safety unless one falls in our lap.
