You could kinda tell from the very first PC that Taco was a bit of a space cadet, seemingly not that intense, head in the clouds. I tried to ignore it but as his career went on I kept thinking back to how much of a gump he seemed like early on.

This guy (and Parsons last year) are the opposite.

Exactly. He's being interviewed on the Ticket right now and he seems smart and very enthusiastic. Kind of fires you up just listening to him. None of the "too cool for school" or "I'm here to build a brand" type attitude.

If the Cowboys wanted to trade Cooper during the draft, they could have, though it would have cost them all their cap space, Schultz , and maybe more players between then and the moment of the trade since Cooper was guaranteed his 20m salary in March.

Also knowing there would be an early 1st round run at WR and that Cooper's value would potentially skyrocket would have taken quite a bit of foresight.

Then again maybe it wasn't WR value that jumped, but rather the perceived values of AJ and Hollywood Brown to their former college QB's.

In any case, it would have been a costly sequence of events.

It's completely false to say that holding on to Cooper necessitates losing other players for cap reasons. As you pointed out they could have absorbed his salary as is, and additionally they could have restructured another player to create more space... including Cooper himself considering any team trading for him would want it restructured anyway. Given what has transpired with WR since then he's a bargain at this point and would have been even more valuable had they held onto him past the new league year post.

Just an abject failure in handling that situation.

Did Stephen hack your account? They could have restructured him, they could have traded him for better than a ham sandwich, they could have not broadcast that they wanted rid of him at all cost.
