One positive to all of this is we should be picking in the top 5 next year and able to draft a possible franchise QB from there.

No. We will need to get the OT fixed.

They just wanted to dump his salary and saw anything they got in return as a bonus.
I get that but those morons have been doing this long enough to know that eventually teams will get desperate and the offers usually get better the closer we get to the season.

Imagine if a contender like the Packers can't get their hands on a quality rookie WR this weekend. Ideally you'd prefer not to trade Cooper within the conference but a desperate Packers team would probably be willing to part with a 1st just to keep King Aaron happy.

Totally agree, and I remember Jerry saying (many times) that a player has minimal trade value the closer you get to the draft. Well it doesn't look the Ravens or Titans agree.

Interestingly enough, he was coached by Steve Farmer at Tulsa.

Same coach as Steele had at Texas Tech.
Very nice find.

We may have something after all.

If you would have told me three months ago we would get less than a 2nd for Cooper, I would have called bullshit.

Or at the very least a 3rd and another late rounder or two.

That is interesting. Maybe Farmer is just an idiot that doesn't know how to bring shit out of a player.

Jerry is a fucking retard. And all that money saved, we didn't really spend. Jerry just says whatever justifies the dumb move he is making at the time. Truth is Jerry is extremely impatient sometimes and he couldn't wait.

and we can't use Coop's contract as an excuse because the other receivers getting traded are immediately being rewarded with new hyper-lucrative extensions

The penalties scare me. After Connor Williams I was hoping to add offensive linemen with cleaner technique. I'm just going to convince myself that he'll grow out of it as he gains experience.

Him having penalties is less scary than our inability to get Williams past the penalties.

It's already said that Williams' penalty problem was more than likely a result of him being underpowered and overwhelmed. I don't think Smith will have that problem.

The Cooper trade should have every Cowboys fan pissed. The Cowboys fumbled that one badly.

Feels like the Joneses just took the first offer that was thrown their way.
Can you imagine the phone call?

Cowboys- we are looking to maybe trade Cooper?

Browns - (chuckling) We’ll give you a fifth.

Cowboys - Done! ~hangs up phone, high fives all around~

Browns - WTF just happened.

That makes a lot of sense.
