Watched this yesterday… brought back that old NFC East defensive battle vibe. This was the game where we took over and never looked back. Seasoned throughout with intermittent gamebreaks featuring the 1-6 Cardinals upsetting the then 6-1 49ers.

Highly recommend
Thanks for posting...watching it now.

I always thought Eddie Murray was money, but he just missed a FG.

And of course, the observations from Madden were on point but simple:

Pat: "The Cowboys defense herds Herschel Walker out of bounds."

John: "As long as you keep Herschel Walker running sideways, you can herd him out of bounds all day."

As an aside, not having the score always on screen in these old videos is irritating. I don't know how we put up with it for so long.
The old man in me says we just asked somebody what the score was. But yes, it is weird now. The whole first half was practically scoreless and damn if you could tell what the fuck was going on.

Madden called it when he said both teams were playing not to lose. Fricking Lin Elliott was such a weak spot missing all those field goals and what was thankfully not a key extra point in the NFCC. Back to this game, a 9-0 lead would have been huge.

Bottom line this was the game our defense became number one, surpassing the Eagles’ dominant front. Emmitt had a great game of course in addition to K-Mart, and Alvin Harper did jack shat (again). I had forgotten how the normally super-reliable Novacek was nursing a broken finger and dropped all those passes, and of course K-Mart and Moose beat the Eagles yet again.

People who say the line made him always make me think either they are biased and want to discredit him or they never actually watched him.

He was incredible and made his own yards a LOT.
It's funny, he didn't knock people over, he doesn't look fast or elusive. But man his vision, balance and the way he sets up defenders to never take a big shot is just insanely unique and good.

Yep, he'll always be underappreciated by those who didn't see him live because his best qualities just don't show up on video.
