Prospects Dallas Has Shown Interest In - 2026

I hope not. If there is any trades, they need to be down. Not up.

I agree although I really like David Bailey. Really is the complete package of size, athleticism, and production. There is no questions about short arms, or is he fast enough, or he really didn't show it in college. Like I look at Bailey and while I'm not saying he is a perfect prospect (He could improve his discipline against the run) he feels like a guy I am confident banking on. Elite athlete with elite production.

But we may just really like Romello Height, he is a 30 visit.

I really like him, too. And if he's there at 12, I'm all about it. But we are not in position to be trading premium picks to go up and get one player. We need all the picks we can get. Maybe next year consider trading up to get that one special piece needed.

There is still part of me that would consider the hypothetical 6 and 39 for 12 and 20. Only because I'd much rather take a middle LBer at 39 than 20. Give me CJ Allen, Rodriguez or Hill at 39 and I'm thrilled.

Of course the counter to that is just trade 20 down, get more picks and you can potentially get Rodriguez/Hill/Allen and another starting player with the extra pick.

I'd definitely consider that, I don't think moving down from 20 to 39 would hurt as much as moving from 12 to 6 would be valuable.

I would consider that, a 2fer swap where we don't lose picks and still get a high premium back. Get the guy you covet, and still get a player that could step in and contribute right away. Just like the scenario you described above.

I agree. And it's obviously a hypothetical that would require Bailey to fall to pick 6. The Browns to be willing to do that trade (20 may be very valuable to a team hunting a WR or O-line or something like that, just don't think it's a great spot for a LBer). And the thought that no one is willing to offer us something reasonable or great to trade down.

I could see the Browns wanting to move down in general since their biggest need is LT (better suited for a move down) and WR.

They may love Tate and will just take him there, but if they prefer Lemon or Tyson or whoever it'd make more sense to move down to 12.

It's the only way I'd consider trading up. At least I don't feel like I'm sacrificing a potential starting player in the draft to get just one guy.

But again, I don't know if that's going to be appealing to the team on the other side of that trade. Maybe the Browns would view it as we can flip that pick 20 into more assets.

Like Carp said: Bailey at 6 and Rodriguez at 39.

So it is written, so it shall be.

Yeah, that could work out well for both of us. They move down a little and get the WR/OT they like. Then trade 20 for more assets.

We get Bailey and one of Allen/Hill/Rodriguez. Both biggest holes filled with dynamic players. Then the rest of the draft could truly be BAP without having to force anything.

The pass rush specialist guy being there is interesting, combined with their willingness to give up multiple high picks for Crosby I wonder if they'd consider moving up for Bailey if he falls to 6.

Could be more about Height but also more likely it's just in case Bailey falls to us.

Although I bet we'd be open to trading up if it's super cheap to do it.

To play devil's advocate, doesn't Bailey have a behavior history or something?

I put that exact trade in, and was also able to get 146. Ok, so I may have homer picked the last two. Still good picks, tho. (at least I didn't take NDSU WR Bryce Lance at 92. Thought about it, tho.)

But you are if you would otherwise have traded down and added an extra 2nd and/or 3rd.

That's the hard thing. I'm not in a draft room and so I can't say for certain how readily available trade down opportunities are there in the first round. If no one is willing to trade up for pick 12 or 20 then you're stuck.

But if I can trade one of them down and acquire a second or third round pick, I'm all in on that. But I don't really know if that will be an option. And once you start talking fourth round and later I lose my confidence in finding a starter. You can but it's a crap shoot.

Second and third round shouldn't be a crapshoot. But the Cowboys have made it that way lately.
