When I was was 12 my dad asked me after last day of school what my summer plans were. I said a bunch of hanging out at the public pool and chasing girls. He laughed and made me work on the fill-in concrete crew of his all summer. Having a nice chunk in a bank account when I got back to school made me excited for the next summer of work.
I started at around 10 at my dads shop. I didn't do a lot at first but gradually throughout the summers worked on the crews. He had an a\c business in abilene and started sweeping floors, working sales and cash register (w/supervision ). Then I was on service calls and rebuilding older models. We sold and serviced evaporative a\c and business was good in the 80s and 90s.

I started working at a Jersey Mikes at age 14, but I don’t think I worked late nights. I think by 16 I was probably working till 9-ish. By late high school I was definitely working till midnight on weekends though.

With your love of Jersey Mike's I feel like it was a match made in heaven. Did they give you free meals?

That was pretty much my experience, but I worked at McDonald's.

After a couple summers of working for my dad me and my brother started a tree service and selling it as firewood. We ended up buying an old 1968 Case Backhoe and started doing dirtwork. I didn't even have a drivers license then :lol

You can't beat growing up in a small country town

My sister worked at DQ when she was a kid, would never go back.
First job was at a Krystal Burger. I lasted one day. ONE.

When you see a co-worker drop a slider on a filthy floor, pick it up, give it to the guy and the guy eats it while she laughs and snickers.

The worst part is that when she did this, she made eye contact with me and said "sshhhhhhhhhh" as she put it delicately back in the box.

My thing was peddling porno mags at that age. Every kid had a taste.

Some liked High Society. Some preferred Hustler. Occasionally a scared kid who just wanted a Playboy of his own.

But there was one kid, he demanded one called Cheri. Then he got into asking for harder stuff than I was capable of providing.

Clearly, we need to take up a collection and send @1bigfan13 to all Cowboys games.
For going 3 for 3?

I'll share a pretty remarkable stat with you guys....

I've been to almost 50 live Cowboys games in my lifetime and I have never, not even once, seen them lose.

And I've been to some real classics including the 95 NFCC which is the crown jewel of the games I've attended.

This is my personal hell time of the year.

Evaluations.

Honestly, I am in HR and I should be all in about how they are awesome and are about growth.

Fuck that stupidity.

All it is at the end of the day is about retribution and justice.

what a dreadful and arcane process. No wonder people hate it with a passion.

We didn't have one of those fancy side-loaders either. We had to throw those bails up onto the trailer and the one on the trailer would stack them.

It wasn't easy work at age 14. But, I made pretty good money, 5 cents to load, 5 cents to unload.
