But I ask the hypothetical mostly because I wonder how screwed we are. Give us an all time great head coach and an all time great QB talent (like in the draft) and I legitimately wonder if the atmosphere in Dallas allows for that development to ever end in a Superbowl.

It's a hypothetical of course, but I think a Mahomes would win anywhere, including here.

As much as we go over the culture and Jerry and all that, I really think when you boil it all down, Romo and Dak are good QBs but not great ones like usually win Superbowls. Yes, there are always the Dilfers and Brad Johnsons and Flaccos, but those exceptions prove the rule.

I think Andy Reid is awesome. I also just think their is such a toxic dynamic in Dallas that creates an atmosphere that makes it really difficult for any head coach to succeed. An atmosphere that was largely created by Jerry.

We are stuck with it but I do think it's an honest question to ask. Like how doomed is Dallas? Can you replace Dak and McCarthy and have even the slightest chance at a Superbowl? Or is this bullshit culture in Dallas too much that you'll still inevitably have other players on the roster collapse in the biggest games.

You have to have a QB1 who is an absolute assassin with ice in his veins to overcome the shitshow in Dallas I think. Coach don't matter, because the Hillbilly shadow is over everything there.

Andy Reid is loved. Fuck, I even like him.

He's fat and don't give a fuck and makes fun of himself.

He's obviously an amazing football coach and holds his team accountable without being a raging dickhead.

He is a players coach but he still gets his players to do their job and care about football. Their Dcoordinator is a huge dick but he is also a great game planner for the biggest games. Hell he helped Eli win a Superbowl. Those Giants defenses carried those teams in the playoffs.

I think where I get stuck in my head is that wasn't Mahomes when he was drafted. He wasn't some transcendent talent at the time. He was nutured and built into what he is. I don't think Mahomes wins Superbowl if the Bears draft him for example.

And let's face it, you're not getting that type of QB from another team. You have to draft and develop them. Maybe you can snag a Tom Brady at the end of his career for that one shot.

He was that talent and was almost unstoppable on his side of the ball. He just wasn't going to win at, well you know where.

Of course he had to be developed and needed some players around him, but KC already had most of that. We're closer to where KC was with Smith than the trainwreck that is the Bears.

That's what I mean. Let's not act like the guy just stepped on a field and was an unstoppable force no matter where he went. Andy Reid obviously helped make him a great QB.

I actually think McCarthy has some skills to develop a QB too. But his time will run out at this point before that would ever be given a chance. Not unless Trey Lance is more than we all think he is.

His organization and preparation skills were legendary in Philly. They said in his interview for the Philly job that he came with a practice schedule that was mapped out to the day, every day for like 5 years into the future. For an interview.
