Here's a question, who are some solid second round DT types in case we do go for a flashier pick like a Hunter in the first? We need bodies who can play in the worst way, even if they aren't future Aaron Donalds or Vince Wilforks.
Depends what big boys fall. Deone Walker seems like he is that massive type who ends up going in the second round. Omari Thomas is a big boy at DT. Darrell Jackson too.

There are actually a lot of really big DT's in this draft. But as a disclaimer I haven't watched most of them closely yet. But if you want a guy who is 6'4"+ 320 pounds + there will be options.

Assuming we're picking in the top 5-7 of the 2nd round I'd say (in no order):

TJ Sanders
Walter Nolen
Deone Walker
Kenneth Grant
Tyleik Williams
Shemar Turner

Some of those guys will probably go in the 1st but some will be there at the top of the 2nd and I think any of them would be really good picks.

There are some others who I think are probably more late 2/3 types that I think we could do better than at like pick 38 or whatever, but it's a very deep DT class this year and it's one reason I won't be heartbroken if we miss out on Graham.

The problem, as always, is that we likely won't do dick in FA. This class is very deep at some of our top need positions (DT and RB) but if we go BPA in the 1st like Hunter, will we have done enough in FA to not feel like we have to scramble because we only have two more fucking picks in the top 125 or so?

One thing I do think Belichick (or even a Vrabel) would insist on is at least some Parcells "hold the fort" type FAs at DT. You can usually find those guys who aren't stars, but are at least competent, solid starters for reasonable money... players that of course right now we don't even have.

As big a moron as Jerry is, I still can't believe we totally ignored that position going into this year. I mean, it was as obvious as Jerry's toupe and we didn't even try.

The only reservation I have with Hunter is how much tread has been taken off of those tires playing both sides of the ball.

I don't worry about Hunter because of the position he plays and the lack of contact overall.

Jeanty on the other hand had his fifth game in a row of 30+ carries. I wish Boise would chill the fuck out with him.

I wouldn't be shocked if they gave him 40 carries in a playoff game if they make it.

I mean I get it, the guy is an absolute stud and really stirs the drink on offense for them. But it also hurts a little to see that many carries and hits every game. Like do you really need that in order to beat San Jose State?

Colin Cowherd said we should trade Micah and three first round picks for Shedeur. :picard
The hillbillies would probably think about doing just that.

How does anyone listen to that moron? Not only is he a sports idiot, he's a huge d-bag while being so. I don't get it at all.

One interesting thing about the teams in front of us is that most of them have already invested very heavily in edge rushers, and most should be in the market for a QB outside of the Jags.

Jacksonville has Allen/Walker, the Browns have Garrett, the Giants have Burns/Thibodeaux, the Raiders have Crosby/Wilson and the Jets have McDonald/Johnson.

Crosby is the only guy there who wasn't a 1st rounder and most of them were recent top 10 picks.

Could bode well for our chances of getting Carter even if we're picking at 6-7.

I hope so. I mean I want to say Kneeland in the second was a pretty significant pick too but elite pass rushers are so important on defense.
Carter and Kneeland are different enough that I think we could easily make both fit.

We need another legit edge rushing threat opposite Parsons though, we could probably get away with Kneeland but if we have a shot at a top 3 player in the class I'd be more than happy to take them.
