If presented the opportunity, and the team chose Grant over Holland, I would not complain. Even a little.

Mostly from shock and joy that they chose a highly touted safety.
Grant is gonna be that safety that sneaks into the back of the first like Darnell Savage did a few years ago.

I am getting the feeling we are going to have to trade a lot and move around. We got a lot of draft picks and I can't see how we could hang onto them all even if we nailed every choice.

I've been a huge fan of using our extra picks to move up into the late 1/early 2.

I'd 1000000% move up into the 25-30 range if Ojulari, Moehrig, Phillips, Barmore and probably few others were still there.

Agreed, as long as it isn't for a zero sack turd like the Penn State kid.

I don’t agree with this. Our TEs are not top of the league, but they are more than enough to win with.
Correct. I don't think Schultz is the 5th best TE in the league, but the reality is that he had the 5th most receptions among TEs...in a year when he mostly had to play without his QB1.

And he's a decent blocker.

And he's the 4th or 5th receiving option.

He's more than fine.

And the offense is fantastic regardless.

So it's a real hard sell to spend another premium resource on yet more offense when the defense is begging for an influx of talent.

Schultz is fine, he could probably put up some inflated stats with our WRs drawing coverage to the tune of about 700 yards/5 TD's, but Pitts is just a different kind of guy.

They are fine.

But put Pitts in there?

We would have the best core of elite receivers in the league, without peer.

But without Pitts, it's already true that we're an elite offense with at or near top of the league receiving targets.

The biggest reason to draft Pitts is because we think we won't pay Gallup so we'll probably lose him.

But honestly I'd rather pay Gallup than use a premium pick replacing him.

They won't spend money on defense in FA so there's really no other reasonable choice but to spend premium draft picks on it.

Sure. But when is it overkill? Pitts would be our 5th option on offense after Cooper, Lamb, Gallup, and Zeke.

We would not be getting the return for our investment. Put Pitts in an offense that will focus on him, and I could see him blow up. Put him in our offense, and I see him getting around 600 yards and 3-4 TDs in a complimentary role.
while fans scream what a bust he is.

I would not want to spend the 10th overall pick on somebody that would be an afterthought in our offense. Especially with the massive holes we have on this team, and with deserving players that should be there to fill them. We can not afford this luxury.

The offense is fine in gross numbers counting sheer between the 20’s yardage, but they have not been fine passing to set up the run until they get behind in games. And they ain’t so great in the redzone either— both important traits of successful playoff teams.

Pitts (who just ran an insane 4.46 40 at his pro day) creates matchups that tip the scales in situational football.

Also, people keep forgetting we won’t have Gallup (or maybe Cooper) in 2022.

The people who can’t picture Dallas taking Pitts are only thinking about 2021, and that’s the wrong mindset when it comes to the draft.

Lol what?

And we can resign Gallup if we want. It's better than getting zero return for the guy because we want to draft another WR(Called a TE) in the first.

I've said it before, if we can't help ourselves with Pitts then we need to shop Gallup right after the pick.

I really like Pitts but let's face it, you're drafting him for his receiving ability and not because of his blocking. We can keep comparing him to our TEs but the truth is you're drafting him to be a threat in the passing game. What you're really hoping is that he is a Calvin Johnson type receiving threat.

At some point when you already have 3 stud WRs you have to consider the diminishing returns. Sure you can put 5 WRs on the field at a time but they aren't all going to get the ball and defenses can really only game plan for a couple of them. Meaning your third WR/TE is facing single coverage regardless. So when you starting talking fourth and fifth targets in your offense you're not getting the same returns for them.

I'm all for BPA but you can't take the same position every year. And yes your drafting Pitts to be a receiver even if you call him a TE.
