While I like Smith plenty, he'd be a luxury pick.

I'd never complain about doubling down on the pass rush but two years from now when Lawrence is gone or close it, it's very likely that our top 3 edge defenders would all be undersized/smallish and/or finesse types who aren't going to sit in and battle against an OT to hold the POA against the run.

In order to effectively build around Parsons we need to build out the rest of the defense with size and physicality to free him up from taking a physical pounding, investing heavily in a sub-240 lb. edge rusher probably wouldn't be the best idea to complement him.

Yeah I agree with all of this. Nolan does have special traits but he is also 239 pounds. I thought he would put on some weight to come in at 245 pounds or so. He really didn't do that. He essentially would fill the role of Sam Williams and Donte Fowler right now except he is even smaller. He could be fun with Quinn but we need some size and physicality too.

Either way he probably doesn't make it to 26 now anyway.

I realize the need for DBs isn't huge, but there are some dudes that aren't household names that I think will be great pros.

I really like Sydney Brown (Illinois S), Kei'Trel Clark (Louisville CB) and D.J. Turner (Michigan CB).

They don't fit Quinn's specifications, but these guys just pop in workouts and after watching a bit of their footage, very impressive.

These guys are worth breaking the threshold rules. They can play.

Darius Rush and Brents also.

I like Turner but I don't really want to spend anything more than a 3.

You will begin looking for over 32 inch arm length now.

Rush and Brents are in that late second-third.

The DBs are usually the last group that I ever start watching during the process so some of the guys that are popping now in workouts, I never watched play. When you catch up, it is a good class if you want players in the secondary.

I don't see it as a crucial need, but if we get a shot at a good corner in the first three rounds, you need to hit it...there's talent there.

I know that's the frustrating part about it.

Say we basically kick ass again on defense. We get to the playoffs or whatever, I think Quinn finally moves on.

Then we are stuck with a bunch of knuckle draggers who may not fit the next system. That makes keeping dudes like Whitt and even Harris kind of important.

Wait a minute, if Mike loses again before reaching the NFC title game, Quinn is prob not leaving the building sir.
