Snacks. Dareus. Thomas.

Bring them in.

But what about the inept offense that can’t score more than 17 points with supposed pro bowlers all over the place???

Other than Thomas I agree. I'd add Walker although I thought he retired.

I agree. But let's just hope the chaos of training camp, the lack of a preseason, and all the injuries caused a lot of issues for the new coaching staff. Hopefully they can iron shit out over time.
That’s the common sense of it, lost.

I just fucking hate wasted opportunities and STILL getting outcoached

McCarthy’s first outing is a fail.

It’s a long season, though, but we should have done much better tonight.

Can anyone tell me what our gameplan was tonight?

piggybacking on your other posts, yeah, for too long we took what the defense gave us. You don’t see great offenses muzzling themselves like that.

I had this sentiment a couple years ago during the holdout, but justifying Zekes contract may be holding this team back.

with Pollard back there, it could be Greatest Show on Turf.

I fear we have a two-faced offensive identity crisis and KM’s not experienced enough to control it.

And this is still a 10000X better staff and situation than it was with Garrett.

I actually have faith that they can build and get better, but just as I always told you with Garrett, my criticisms I feel are fair because I try to be objective regardless of whether I dislike or like someone.

With that said, this was not a very good game from a coaching standpoint.

The offense labored.

The defense looked like they had no clue what was coming for roughly 40 min.

The 4th and 3 call was awful and the clock management at the end was very disappointing.

This is even more disappointing than the 2006 opening loss which was the last time I was hyped for season opener.

I hope it gets better and soon.

Oh yeah, and we don’t have an elite QB

Not until he learns to take over the game and stop doing what head-up-their-asses coaches tell him to.

Kellen Moore is a fucking kid. YOU know more than he does, Dak. There is no excuse. Not with this much talent around you.

Gutsy performance by Zeke... WASTED

Kellen Moore: you know, that Elliot guy is running great, lets throw to Amari Cooper now, that will show the defense.

Elliot: come on man, no one is stopping me, i got 2 TDs.

KM: I know, it pissed me off, we gotta let the other team get some points too.

Pfft. 25-39, 266 YDS, 1 TD + 30 yards on 3 carries while getting hurried hit and sacked regularly. That throw to Gallop should have won it. He's a B or a B+.

I agree. He faced a ton of pressure tonight. I think Collins coming back is going to fix a lot.

It's hard to know how much control or influence Moore has on the offense in regards to the overall design, game planning and playcalling.

Maybe he has way too much or maybe his influence is overstated. But this is exactly why I didn't want him to come back.

I wanted any and everything that had ties to Garrett's awful, stale, predictive, and conservative offense to be wiped from this team.

One of the things that was most excited about was McCarthy and his staff coming in and bringing in an entirely new system and philosophy. But because Moore is still here, we are now going to be left to wonder all season long whose fault it is for X, Y, and Z.

I saw way too much tonight that resembled the poor offensive performances of the past so I can't help but feel like that is because Moore has too much say so in what we are doing on that side of the ball.

I hope McCarthy takes over the playcalling and the gameplans sooner rather than later.

Yea , I assumed McCarthy objectively would've been interested in hiring Moore one way or the other but the recent talk of McCarthy having to learn the offensive verbiage makes me wonder how much of it was simply to smooth the transition. Then of course you throw COVID in the mix and there's no way of knowing who exactly is influencing the offense.

Ultimately the blame falls at McCarthy's feet one way or the other, although if the offense doesn't take off over the next month or two I wouldn't be surprised to see McCarthy take over the play-calling.

My only complaint with KM is they didn't chip the DEs more to help out Steele. He got isolated a ton. There are ways to avoid that. We could have kept in a tight in as well. If we have one we trust in pass pro.

I hated how much we threw short.

The Rams did too, but they did so with their receivers having space to run with and with their eyes up the field.

We settled for far too many hitch and out routes where our guys were basically catching it and getting nothing else.

What a shitty and conservative gameplan that was.

And as much as I'd like to be enthused by Aldon Smith's performance, I find myself more annoyed than anything else that our best defensive lineman was a 30 year old who hasn't played football in 5 years.

Lawrence picked up right where he left off last season with the lack of pressure and that isn't anywhere near good enough for what he's getting paid.

Blake Bell is a really good blocking TE, if Schultz is going to trip on his dick constantly we might as well just quit with the charade of trying to pretend like we have a well-rounded TE and just run 3/4-wide and use Bell as a 6th OL who can run a route here and there.

I'd rather Bell be out there doing the one thing he's good at rather than Schultz playing like shit in several facets.

What game were you watching? You can't throw deep when your QB has 2 seconds to throw the ball. Our line was hobbled and it affected our gameplan and the playcalling. It's not like we didn't try to throw deep it's just Dak got sacked when they tried. Williams and Steele were both leaky and Dak was getting it from both sides of the line.

Not so much deep balls, but, essentially doing what the Rams did to us offensively to neutralize our supposed pass rush. Except we could do it more effectively with our cadre, as opposed to Robert Woods, Cupp, Higbee and Malcolm Brown

Wasn’t much of x Rams player out of position but we saw a whole lot of our DEs and coverage LBs tripping over themselves.
