I hear people mention civil war in the U.S. quite often but I think Americans, collectively, are too fat and lazy with far too much to lose to engage in insurrections. I just don't see it.
A civil isn't going to happen. But, I do think if americans were pushed far enough it could.

Right now I think most people are giving the government the benefit of the doubt because of the virus.

And fortunately I think the federal government and a lot of state governments have been fairly reasonable.

I think you underestimate gun owners in the south.
I don't think it has anything to do with just the south. There are people/gun owners fed up all across the country.

Yeah, I shouldn't have said the south. Gun owners of middle America would have been a better way to put it.

In what context are they fed up? I'm not saying a civil war could never happen but I think we'd have to reach a point where, maybe not half, but a substantial number of Americans had nothing to lose. I just don't think we're anywhere close to that.

I can’t speak for NoDak, but for me I feel most of middle America is fed up with Washington DC and all of the rotten politicians.

Pretty much. People around here aren't screaming grab your guns and fight or anything like that (yet), but the vast majority are pissed at what is going on. Small businesses being squeezed out. Governors and mayors taking a little bit more each day. They are adamant about not being forced to be chipped or given a vaccine against their will. Etc...

The more time passes and the more we see civil rights being chipped away, the more people are speaking out. The more we see government trying to control every facet of every day life. All it takes is for unrest to keep building, and something to spark. And it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see people stand up in force to demand that it stops. And once we see that happen, even in a small group, it will snowball. The groups fighting back will get bigger. And unfortunately, more violent. And like I've said before... That is how a civil war starts.

I'm not saying there will ever be an all out, full blown civil war. But I can certainly see things building. See where people will finally say enough. God forbid there is something like the Kent State incident. If a government/police force opens fire on a protest rally or whatever, then you will see people starting to fight back in full force.

I appreciate the explanation and mostly agree.

perhaps they should have let McArthur have some of those nukes to repel China and not allow N Korea to exist

we're so distracted by nonsense in this country, I fear we may be in trouble if we ever have to get into it with China. hope we never do but I wouldn't bet against it

If we ever got into it with China, half this country would be rooting for them.

Mail in ballots will win every election that democrats want to control the outcome. Reason being there are more contrived voters in their system than the republicans have. They started the practice of phantom voters many years ago in areas of high population because it was difficult to police since everything was done by hand count. The mail in system would allow phony ballots to be delivered to precincts undetected and require a physical count for the entire process to overturn it. The screening at the polling precincts at least have an approach to keep phony ballots from showing up.

The way to deal with China is not militarily. It would ultimately lead to nuclear warefare and they would prevail . They cannot deal with an economic war because the US currently support their economic structure plentifully.
It would put their system in a situation similar to what the US is in now with the pandemic as to joblessness. Hungry Chinese would riot and plunder just like any other nation does with joblessness. They would not be given a livelihood by their government . It would be extreme there because of the sheer numbers.

As a side note this is also why this country needs to get back to normal soon. The biggest mistake this administration made was to create a system that allows people to discontinue working for a long term.
