As they well should. That was the one thing that set soccer apart from all other sports. No timeouts.which is why the fans in every stadium boo every time it comes up.

Most of soccer rules are alien to me, but this just looks idiotic even if you have no idea.
Right, I'm far from any soccer expert, but a lot of things don't make sense. Some are basic fundamentals like controlling and passing the ball, some are more strategic like players seeming to do impulsive things.I really don’t understand these coaches who just love passing the ball backwards and are content with one shot per half. Do they understand that you don’t get any points for possession? The US had 56% possession, lost the shots on target contest 7-2, and lost 4-1.
But the better teams don't seem to do those questionable things nearly as often. So it could just be that we aren't very good.
My youngest son is all into soccer. I asked him a while back about why they do that, (passing the ball deeper back into their own territory) and he said it's to draw the defense into getting out of position.I really don’t understand these coaches who just love passing the ball backwards and are content with one shot per half. It's a simliar strategy to pre-snap motion in normal football. You make the defense move with the idea you get a favorable matchup. My youngest son is all into soccer.
