which is why the fans in every stadium boo every time it comes up.
As they well should. That was the one thing that set soccer apart from all other sports. No timeouts.

The Athletic is off the damn rails. There was no appeal, you dipshits. It was a standard review they do with all red cards. They want so bad to make America look bad they end up looking like morons.

I really don’t understand these coaches who just love passing the ball backwards and are content with one shot per half. Do they understand that you don’t get any points for possession? The US had 56% possession, lost the shots on target contest 7-2, and lost 4-1.

Right, I'm far from any soccer expert, but a lot of things don't make sense. Some are basic fundamentals like controlling and passing the ball, some are more strategic like players seeming to do impulsive things.

But the better teams don't seem to do those questionable things nearly as often. So it could just be that we aren't very good.

I think it will come with more talent. I think the early goal last night for Belgium got in their head. It wasnt until the second half that they really started controlling the ball and had some kind of offense.

I only got to watch the Australia game and they got out to a lead and didnt see too much resetting of the offense.

This is it.

Belgium isn't that much more talented than we are at the moment, we lost yesterday because the team came out nervous and made a lot of very bad mistakes.

But compared to teams like France, Spain and Argentina, our talent just isn't in the same stratosphere.

It's gotten a lot closer over the last 20-30 years, so maybe in another 20-30 we can get there to where we're consistently putting out elite players.

My youngest son is all into soccer. I asked him a while back about why they do that, (passing the ball deeper back into their own territory) and he said it's to draw the defense into getting out of position.
