Must See Movies

I mean it's sort of like Inglorious Bastards. You just sort of need to suspend reality and have fun.

I've never seen that but it's not the type of thing I typically enjoy.

I saw about 15 minutes of one of the John wick movies and pretty much felt the same way. I can't help noticing how dumb it is and it takes me out of the enjoyment of the movie.

Yep I was going to say mix Inglorious Bastards with John Wick and this is what you get. John Wick does stuff that's not realistic. This movie probably just isn't your cup of tea.

You must hate the Kill Bill movies.

Never saw those either.

The Tarantino movies I've seen are I think pulp fiction and From Dusk til Dawn.
Tarantino didn't direct From Dusk Till Dawn. That was Robert Rodriguez. Tarantino just wrote it. Just FYI

I wasn't sure so I was going to look it up so I wouldn't look dumb.

But then I got high.
Another fun fact, Tarantino also wrote Natural Born Killers but did not direct it. Oliver Stone did.

If you know the movie, you know that it was more Stone than Tarantino.

Yes, at least what I saw.

Yeah see and I loved the first one. Not a serious movie, just kick back and have fun. I like those movies sometimes. Like a breath of fresh air. Not that I want every movie I watch to be like that. But it's just nice to sometimes not to have to think when watching a movie.

Ever watch Snatch? Another one of those types of unrealistic movies that's fun to just kick back and enjoy.

I tell my wife that if I wanted to see realistic then I would just go outside. I'm not opposed to some realism but I'm going to enjoy an escape.

I'm ok with not realistic and I love horror and sci Fi.

I just don't like when it's supposed to be set in real life but isn't realistic. I also don't like dumb lazy writing.

It depends on how it is presented.

one of my favorite movies to occasionally revisit is shoot ‘em up with Clive Owen. Huge riff on the shooting movie genre that does not take itself seriously at all. Including a scene with him munching a carrot and the line what’s up doc.

John wick is one step short of that. Set in a realistic world with some caveats. The martial arts is well done for the most part though some of the end scenes get carried away and the gun stuff is kept in the realm of reality. Reloads are done, physics are mostly followed, etc
