So the Mets get Vic Black from the Pirates to complete the trade...live bullpen arm who was their #6 prospect coming in to the season.

Another gem from Archer tonight. Over his last 13 starts, he has held the opposition to a .201 batting average and a 2.29 ERA.

Jeff Wilson‏@JeffWilson_FWST15m#Rangers have allowed no more than five runs in 26 straight games, longest single-season streak in club history. Longest in AL since 1980.

Pitching had better get us through the playoffs because consistent hitting dang sure won't!

Seems like an even higher ranked prospect than Herrera.

Nice matchup today. Scherzer vs Colon.

Watch it be a slugfest now.

Let's hope the Tigers can at least get us 1 game Jeez.

Yeah. Don't know how Detroit lost 3 at home to them. Oh well. Guess we will have to do it ourselves. Rotation is shaping up nicely for that first series against them starting Monday. Holland, Perez, and Darvish.

Tanaka is the next big Japanese pitcher that is heading over. I know the Rangers are scouting him but read today of a team that I haven't heard before. The Twins.

NoDak- you better brush up on your Japanese.

Nice Save by the Tigers. At least them bums got one from the A's. Rangers up 3 going into the weekend!

Yeah. That was pretty horrid.

Damn...Mets got more for Byrd and Buck that the Twins got.

I didn't figure they'd get much for him. Speculation is that he's going to play out the year, then resign with the Twins this winter. We'll see, I guess.

If not, at least his last Twin at bat was a game winning homer off Darvish. :art

Still though...they were dealing from the position of strength and got back a 28 year old OF.

How is the Pirates swallowing over 7 mil for the rest of the season, and knowing they probably won't be able to sign him long term a position of strength for the Twins?

Should they have gave up more knowing they'll pay that much for what amounts to month or so rental? Morneau has publicly stated he wants to remain with the Twins, and will consider resigning with them over the winter. Frankly, I'm surprised they got anything for him because of that. No team was going to give up anything good in this situation.

Simple...the Pirates are all in for 2013...so if the Twins were not a bunch of money grubbers they could have ponied up his salary and essentially bought a good prospect. Sure...they save some money, but it's not like they are going to go out and spend those savings.

Not arguing that the Twins aren't money grubbers. They're cheap as hell. But I still don't see how a team would give a good prospect up for what basically amounts to a one month rental. And even if the Twins agreed to eat the salary, I don't see that putting them in a position of power.
