Not worried about him between the ears, but more regarding his physical traits. They matter, and even a football brainiac like this kid has been will take time to adjust to the pro game

I can't help but feel that a player who doesn't make splash plays is not the best defender in the draft.

He led the league in INTs 3 years ago in a season he was running for his life for a Washington team that allowed him to be sacked a league leading 65 times, the 5th highest total ever.

I think we can put a little bit of an asterisk on that one.

He wasn't the best defender in the draft, although I can guarantee you that the types of splash plays he does make aren't going to be readily noticeable in a training camp setting, particularly when all we're seeing are a bunch of 10 second social media clips from media types who only half know what they're looking at.

He's a bit scheme dependent but I think he's going to be good.

He's a beast coming downhill vs. the run, very athletic for his size and he can do a little something off the edge in the right formations. His biggest weakness is covering the pass in space, but Parker has basically said they can cover that up with the scheme.

There's a good chance he ends up getting the nod over Winters at some point this year.

So we can excuse that, but be critical of a rookie in his third NFL practice ever, and not even in pads yet, for not making enough splash plays?

Makes sense.

I saw him hold up well enough in the slot vs. Lamb in a few clips too, which is very impressive for a rookie safety.

Basically nothing is going to show up as an obvious big play from a safety at this point in TC except for an INT, and being a ballhawk isn't at the top of his list of strengths to begin with.
