2026 NFL Draft Chatter

They have one of the worst rosters in the league so they could do literally anything and it wouldn't surprise me.

Their new HC has spent the majority of his career as a DB coach so I'm assuming it'll be Delane if he's there, but maybe their asshole owner will stick his nose in it and they'll go with a flashier position like WR.

I think teams still care about 40's to some extent just because it's a historical benchmark that they can use for comparison, to some extent.

But it's not as significant as it used to be.

Lot more guys just don't run a forty than I can recall in the past. Personally I like the numbers. Probably more so the 10 yard split on Dlineman than I care about the actual 40. Those first 10 yards are a good indicator to me how fast a guy can get upfield or close on the QB when he needs to.

5 is a bit fast, 8 feels right, there needs to be a little buffer in there to allow for trade negotiations.
They can negotiate trades before their time starts. 3 minutes less isn't going to make or break a trade. Of course that means less commercials and way less draft pundit acrobatics. Which would be awesome.

Yeah, I love it when the draft speeds up later, but I think this is about perfect for the first.

As far as I'm concerned they can reduce that down to 5 and I would be happy.

As far as I'm concerned they could do 15 minutes. With the Cowboys failing every year the draft might be one of the most enjoyable weekends of football for me every year. I don't want to shorten it. I don't want to see less analysis of the players. Granted I know what the response will be, it's less time for the retard parade with all the side show stuff. But when a player is picked, I want to see 10 minutes of analysis of the player and how he fits. Instead the 2 minutes less time is going to cut that out and instead we will just get 8 minutes of sideshow stuff before the next pick.

Anyway, I respect everyone elses opinion on this topic. But I honestly love and enjoy the NFL draft. And trying to speed it up feels like it's just going to reduce the part of the draft I enjoy.

Gosh I am such the opposite. It drives me nuts later on when draft picks are just glossed over. When they are talking about players taken 15 picks earlier because they needed commercials and some puff piece of a guy in his living room hugging his grandma and talking about how his mother died when he was born. Then they don't even talk about the player the Cowboys picked, they just announce it quickly and move on. Even though everyone already knew the player and were just waiting to hear a little bit about the guy.

Hill at 20?

That seems awfully high for him.

I like him better than CJ Allen. I think he is bigger, more athletic and a better play maker than CJ Allen. But CJ Allen feels like the safer and more steady choice.

20 feels high for Hill for me as well but I think he might be the LBer with the most upside in this draft after Styles. I like Rodriguez as probably my #2 LBer in this draft. Just because he is an insane playmaker, I trust his intelligence level in leading a defense, and I think he is both safe and high upside.

I also like Trotter, who to me is a beast as a run stopper. Not sure his coverage is going to wow anyone but he might be a perfect fit next to Overshown. Golday is a guy I've been high on for a long time. Big guy, play maker, athletic. Former DE who even lined up at nickel in college. I think he gets dinged by people because he played all over but if you watch just what he did at LBer and ignore everything else he is one hell of a player. Gives you great blitzing potential and all of that as well.

All of that to say I really like Hill. But I really like a number of LBers in this draft and so I have a hard time taking one at 20. I kind of want to trade down from 20 and take one a little later. But I also know that a trade down might not be possible.

That's more about the crappy TV coverage, though.

You should check the Ticket this year. Even when things are faster they talk about who is still there, who Dallas supposedly likes, etc. long before they pick.
