2026 NFL Draft Chatter

I don't think they have to fit that old school Parcells mold anymore, 270-280 is definitely big enough with how much more spread out the game is these days.

The way I think of Faulk is as an Osa replacement who has added versatility to play some 3-4 OLB. He's only a few pounds lighter than Osa but I think he'd be roughly as good of a run defender right away, with much higher potential as a pass rusher.

I think he could conceivably be a better interior rusher than Osa at some point during his rookie year.

The more I look at Faulk the less I like him. I wouldn't touch him in the first.

I’d be fine passing on a LB in the first if we had a 2nd round pick, but we don’t. Find your LB and make him pick 20. If we can trade down and acquire more picks, fine, but don’t fuck around and miss. Overshown is learning a new position too, but I feel like we’re just thinking he’s going to shift to ILB like it’s nothing. Hill, Rodriguez, Allen…pick your adventure and go.

I feel the same way. I start to sort of feel ok with him, and then I go back and watch him and I'm like, nope.

Went back and watched 2024 because it was a better season for him. Was hoping to be impressed and I was like nope. Cool you got some cleanup sacks. The best I saw from him were a couple of run plays where he actually knifed in and made a play. But the vast majority is stand up, play patty cake and then try to shed and make a play towards the end. I didn't even see the "strength" I saw from guys like Mykel Williams. He at least looked violent. Faulk doesn't look violent at all. It feels meh, all the time.

That's my thinking, too. You gotta come away with one of those three. I do not care which one. Try to trade down some if you can. Not down far enough where you'd miss these three. That would be ideal. But if you can't? Take one. This defense has got to have an immediate, impact starter in the middle. Any of these three can step in and do it. I like guys like Golday. Chances are he could do the job, also. But it's much more of a crapshoot if he'd be there. If you wait until pick 92 for your day 1 starter in the middle, you are taking a huge risk that guy will be there.

Now, this is all a moot point if we somehow get Styles at 12. But the closer we get to draft day, that is looking more and more like a pipe dream.

Honestly even if we draft one of those three it still seems crazy to me to not have one more veteran option on the roster. I really think at some point we are adding a vet. Either via trade or free agency. Not that I don't think Hill, Rodriguez or CJ Allen can start here right away. But feels like with Overshown's injuries, the lack of depth and now relying on having to draft one of 3 players just seems like a poor recipe without at least one vet that you can rely on. Trade for a LBer, sign a LBer and still draft Hill, Rodriguez or Allen. But that also makes it a little more palatable to draft one of the other LBers too.

I think no matter what happens in the draft we will still add a LBer via free agency or a trade. Why we haven't done it already is beyond me but I have to imagine there is more of a plan than just, reach for a LBer at 20.

Just trade for Brooks and the rest will fall in place, although I'm guessing that would happen during or after the draft.

I'd like Brooks on the roster. The Dolphins are in a full on fire sale anyway.

I wonder what the compensation would need to be though. It's another guy on the last year of his deal. So it's really a likely one year rental. I don't want to give up anything higher than the fifth round for those types of guys. Pickens was a little different. I doubt Brooks would get a big enough free agent contract to recoup us a third or fourth rounder.

Not convinced we need to go CB in the first. Part of that is I don’t think Bland, Revell, and Durant are a terrible top 3 CBs, but the bigger part is I have faith in Parker to coach up what we have. This is coming from a former CB whore, so respect my vulnerability here please and thank you.

I think you also have to keep in mind Thompson can play the slot.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we couldn't use a stud corner, but we attacked DB hard in free agency. It's the one group we did attack hard in free agency.

I don't want a CB at all with either the two firsts or the third. I would be happy with a Downs at 12 or maybe the hyphen safety at 20. We can get a CB on day 3. It's not nearly the need LBer, EDGE, or safety are, IMO.

I'd be perfectly happy with Delane at 12. I think he's a stud.

If he's the only one left of the top 6 defenders I don't see how we could pass him up. I'd also take him over Downs if I had the choice.

I didn't factor in Delane because I don't think there is any way he makes it to 12.

Downs did not do any athletic testing at the Ohio State Proday. Can't say I'm really shocked just because it seems like the way a lot of prospects are going. Not sure I'm really concerned. Not unless he claims he didn't run because he had knee swelling, then I am worried.

Hell not many did run at the Ohio State proday but that's probably because most of their top guys except Downs ran at the combine.

I'm not overly concerned about it but it definitely gives credence to the idea that he isn't an elite/dynamic athlete, while also being average sized.

One random thought - Gary has barely ever rushed from the interior, I think he can theoretically do it due to his size but he's done it very rarely.

With that in mind all we really have as far as interior rushers are Quinnen and Clark, both of whom are going to be asked to play large snaps as 3 down guys.

That's a big reason I think we're going to go after a bigger edge like Mesidor, Faulk or Parker who can rush from the interior while leaving Ezeiruaku, Gary, Houston and I guess dumbo Williams on the outside.

Eh let simple Sam rush inside on obvious passing situations. You don't have to be big to do it. Hell even Parsons used to line up at NT and rush.

No but you have to be good and Williams isn't very good at anything unless you want Clark and Williams playing 85% of the snaps.
