2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

There's too much smoke for it to not be real interest. That doesn't mean it'll happen but I'm sure we're at least exploring it.

I just hope that they wouldn't give up 20 without getting a pick back in the 35-40 range.

Agreed.

I think I'd do 12+20+92 for 4 and whatever the Titans second pick is, although I'd push for like an extra 5 from them to balance it out a bit.

I'd hate that.

He nailed our first rounders the last two years, let's just hope he means at 20.

I'm listening to the entire podcast right now and he did insert that he had good information those two years about 72 hours before those drafts and we're not at that point yet this year.

So what he's saying right now might not be as strong for the moment.

I'll wait for his final mock draft. Right now he is giving us Downs and Mesidor but he has nailed us the last two years on his final mock draft with Guyton and Booker.

Yeah he's saying that he's getting feedback that there's no way Downs is still there at 12 so his final mock will likely be different.

He's hinting now it might be Thieneman.

So plenty of time to solidify it? :excellent

I mean if you trust Jerry, our board isn't even set yet. So it would be hard to nail the pick right now. I'm sure that's the same for a lot of teams.

But with that being said, Schrager actually has a pretty good beat on the Cowboys the day or two before the draft. So I'll worry then.

The other thing that's sticking out to me is he said regarding Faulk that he's not sure if it's 12 or 20. Probably more likely at 20 but they could reach at 12 if everyone else is gone.

He's saying the information he's getting about Faulk to Dallas isn't from the cowboys it's from a scout outside the organization that apparently knows them.

I do appreciate how hard they started to laugh when he gave the Faulk info. Schrager seemed so confused. It's not just us, Cowboys fans in general would hate the pick.

Because it sounds like he heard from people the Cowboys like him. Its hard to take that information and say for certain where they would pick him if at all. But I do trust that someone in the Cowboys organization is talking highly of Faulk. Which is interesting since we didn't have a 30 visit with the guy that I know of.

I mean I will say there is a difference between being able to run a 40 yard dash and being ready to play NFL games at corner. It's the change of direction and initial explosion that can sometimes take more time to come back. Running in a straight line doesn't really test the repair all that much. My guess is if camp started today they probably don't think the knee is ready to go out on a field and play.

Schrager was hinting at Thieneman as the pick for us in his final mock?

Yes. They were lamenting the idea that there's no way Downs is there, and Schrager was basically responding by saying well then how about another safety? He added McNeill Warren at the end but most of the emphasis was on Thieneman.

It was unclear if he was speaking from specific knowledge or speculating though.

I think it was Broaddus or maybe the morning guys on 105.3 who said some were suggesting the surgery might even have to be re-done.

That doesn't sound very likely to me. Probably just pre-draft BS from someone who wants him to fall.

I love Downs. But I'm not desperate for a safety. So I don't see a reason to be upset if Downs doesn't make it to 12. He is a really good player but it's not like him being gone screws us or something.
