Yup.... That's exactly why he's my #1 choice as well.

It's the only chance of cleaning up the culture to at least some extent.
 
I don’t think I’ve ever felt as hopeless about the Cowboys in my life.
I could almost bet everything i own if that were the Cowboys down and the Hail Mary went up not a single dildo would be around to catch it.


The stink is off Washington. Commanders get rid of Snyder who was comparable to Jerry with the meddling and fucking around his coaches, take our DC, draft a good qb, change the culture and now will most likely make the playoffs if not win the entire division.

Yeah but there's nothing that is gonna change that.

Within the scope of him running the team I would at least like to see a full scale teardown and rebuild because this roster is the opposite of entertaining.

Jerry would never do that. And it's impossible to do anyway. The only chance would be if Dak got on some kind of heater and his trade value spiked, but in that case Jerry would think he's back to greatness and keep him anyway.
 
Belichick (or somehow lucking into the next McVay-type) is literally our only hope for as long as Jerry is alive.

Roll the dice there for the next 4-5 years, and if that doesn't work Jerry will be nearly 90 and on his way out, and maybe Stephen will be so sick of the criticism that he'll take a step back.

That's about all I've got.

Not only do we have to hit on hiring a great coach and draft incredibly well, it has to happen in the first year or two of the new coach's tenure before Jerry starts inserting himself more like he always does.

Yea, the other part of this is that it's just impossible to win a Super Bowl by literally sitting out FA, it's just not going to work and never will. Unless that changes it's probably best to just know that going into each season there isn't a real path to winning it all, because the only plausible path would be drafting like 6 future HOF'ers over a 3-year span.

It's amazing to me that we've been as good as we have over the last 10 years despite literally doing nothing of note in FA.

I don’t think that is the case. He has reduced talent at receiver, shitty O-Line, non-existent running game. Dak is not a great QB who can make chicken shit into chicken salad at the position like Mahomes. He needs help around him to be effective. Also Schottenheimer and McCarthy’s scheme is antiquated and isn’t doing him any favors.

Dak is very Kirk Cousins-ish and I think we should have moved on from him but his poor performance is based more on organizational mismanagement than anything else.

Dak is very Kirk Cousins-ish and I think we should have moved on from him but his poor performance is based more on organizational mismanagement than anything else.

You don't see a decline in him physically? His footspeed, his processing, his arm strength?

I do. And that isn't scheme. IMO it's crazy to think new Xs and Os are going to unlock some greatness that's there.

Definitely in terms of his foot speed and his ability to scramble he has declined. Otherwise he’s the same QB. Look at how he performed before the Cowboys traded for Cooper that year. Same mediocre play until the weapons improved. If the personnel were better he would look more like he did last season.

Much better players around him, sure, I agree with that. I just don't agree that it's some outdated scheme making him throw that terrible INT to Lamb, or right to three red shirts with no Cowboy in sight.

Yeah I don't think it's scheme but I do think it has everything to do with his weapons and especially the pathetic lack of a running game.

You're onto something here for sure, ala Jared Goff. Goff is benefitting from the draft picks coming from his own Herschel Walker type trade. He's surrounded now by superstars and above average players at almost every position.

Unfortunately we don't have a bonanza like that for Dak, so his averageness forces us to hit on every draft pick in order to succeed, especially since we don't sign free agents.

No team can do that, no matter how well they communicate between GM, coaches, and scouts. The last thing is we can't fuck up the trades and contracts we do commit to, ala Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup. What debacles those have been, and Zack Martin is also heading in that direction.
