How high?

If we want him I think you have to plan on taking him in the first 40-50 picks at the least. Might even have to just sit there and take him at 24 depending on how the board shakes out.

If we let Biadasz walk and Powers-Johnson and Barton are off the board at 24, how comfortable are you going to feel trading down to 40 and assuming Frazier is still there?

He might make it out of the second but not by much. I would take him at 56.

I love the trade down. It's exactly what we need.

Hard fuck no on Patrick Paul though. He is going to be a bust. I don't want James Williams (6'5" safeties freak me out, just too tall to change directions and break on the ball as a deep safety). Trotter feels like a reach compared to other LBers I may like more but I'd welcome him in here. And Jordan Jefferson I haven't watched any of. He is a big DT. So I guess I'm open to the idea.

Yeah and I'm by no means an expert on projections, especially this early in the process. But a mock from ESPN like a week ago had Powers at 28, Barton at 39 and Frazier at 51. In a scenario where all three guys are available at 24 I probably just draft Powers but I'd also be ok dropping down and rolling the dice.

The blinking light in this draft I have a hard time seeing unless it's a WR.

JPJ is pretty obviously the best center in the class so of course you'd just take him at 24, I doubt he'll be there at this point.

It's why you need to have at least some backup option for the position. Maybe Bass can fill the role or something. But ultimately in the draft you want to be able to sit there and go, oh wow the center fell to us. Or oh no, there is a run on centers but Brian Thomas Jr. is there and he is an absolute beast. Or in the second round Worthy is still sitting and there and you go, this dude is just too good to be available. Or Cooper Beebe in the second round or whatever.

The dangers of the draft are when you do what we did last year. Like hey, it's a great TE class, let's just get the next best TE in the second round.

Frazier-

Frazier is a leverage-based blocker with the knee bend and grip strength expected of a four-time state champion high school wrestler. He won the genetic lottery for a center: Those on his father’s side were football players; those on his mother’s side were wrestlers.
At times, his hands get out in front and his feet are late to catch up, but he consistently finds a way to stay under control and finish. Despite breaking his leg in November, Frazier is already running and moving without restrictions, and the injury shouldn’t have a significant impact on his draft grade.

Bruglar has him higher than most. But I also have a lot of respect for Bruglar. 36 is probably about where I would personally put him. Which feels weird since he is the third best center in the draft. There just happens to be 3 really good center options.

Now that the Kansas City Chiefs have lifted the Lombardi Trophy, all 32 teams are full speed ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft.
This past week, scouting and personnel staffs around the NFL returned to team headquarters for draft meetings and preliminary draft-board discussions. It also was time for me to update my rankings after late-season adjustments and all-star games.
Without specific scheme or culture parameters, piecing together a top-100 draft board is a very generalized exercise. But it gives us a basic look at the ranges in which players are expected to be drafted. The combine, pro days and late information will create fluctuation the closer we get to draft weekend, but most of the hay is in the barn at this point in the process.

If they let Biadasz go you may as well earmark our first for a center, there's a chance they wait it out until the 2nd but I think it'd be at least 75% that they go center in round 1. Conversely, if they re-sign Biadasz and let both Gilmore/Lewis walk I think there's a decent chance they go CB (unfortunately), especially if Wiggins or McKinstry are there.

With Diggs coming back and all the needs on this team. It would be a massive shame if corner somehow gets pushed to the top of the needs. Just resign Gilmore and forget corner. But what the hell do I know.

I want a badass center. Biadasz is fine but a badass in the middle has a massive impact on what you can do in short yardage.

My choice would be Tyler to LT, Bass to LG and Powers at center. That's ideal to me.
