Yep, a shitbag Jets team because basically they were playing with one arm behind their back. Or are you gonna try to convince everyone Wilson was on Rodgers level at QB? The kid was demoted and benched, he pretty much sucks ass. Take away the lucky pass for the TD and he threw for a pathetic 100 yards.

I would bet a lot of money that if Rodgers is at QB that’s either a squeaker of a win for the Cowboys, or a straight out loss based on the Red Zone issues we had.
Huge game. The NYJ were ripping off huge runs against what I thought was a pretty good Bills front.

We already knew Rodgers was out earlier in the week when you were talking about it being a huge game. About how they looked against The Bills.

Yet now after we beat them easily, they are shitbags. Ok.

If you say so.

They were barely trying to score once it got to 24-10, the play-calling made it obvious that they were mostly running clock and not aggressively going after it because they didn't really have to. Personally I love that sort of pragmatism as opposed to the unnecessary idiotic risk-taking we've seen in past years that has led to turnovers and fuck ups.

Not hitting a TD on either of the first two drives of the second half was annoying given that we got to the 1 but if you think the victory is "hollow" because of some red zone efficiency bullshit you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

And the Jets are obviously a far worse team with Wilson at QB but he was also 5-4 as a starter last year and they just beat Buffalo the week before with Wilson playing every snap but about 5, so let's not pretend like this is a 4 win team or something because Wilson is in at QB.

As long as they don't quit on Saleh they'll still probably win 8 or 9 games.
No way do the Jets win 8 or 9 games with Wilson running the offense

5-4 last year with him starting, 1-1 this year against two playoff teams, unless they quit as the year goes on they'll get to 8 or 9.

7 is an absolute floor with their defense and Hall.

Yep it seemed like a much bigger game based on everyone claiming Wilson had really improved under Rodgers tutelage and a decent outing against the Bills.
But he quickly went back to being the Wilson that was benched last season.
I've always been quick to pump the brakes and recognize the issues even though we were winning, so I get where you're coming from.... But I think you're being a bit harsh here.

First, while they didn't have their QB they did have that excellent defense that we drove down the field on multiple times.

Yes, we weren't the most efficient in the redzone but some of that was also safe playcalling that I think would have been more aggressive under different circumstances.

This team is legit. Exactly how good are we? Time will tell.

But we are a legitimately good football team and it's ok to enjoy their success.

Remember when everyone would bitch, myself included, how we couldn't bury weaker teams or how we couldn't take advantage of teams missing good players?

Well, on Sunday we did both of those things.

I've been as hard on the Cowboys as anyone during the last decade, but there's absolutely a difference in these Mike McCarthy teams from the ones before and if we're never going to give them credit when they make genuine strides, then what are we even watching for?
I totally get what you are saying. For me as a fan, the Cowboys haven’t earned my benefit of the doubt yet. Too many years of let downs. A win against a Giants team that we beat 98% of the times we play them, and a win against a Wilson led Jets team doesn’t get me all hyped up. I could give 2 shits what anyone thinks about that. But, I never said I wasn’t enjoying the wins, I’ve just tempered my enthusiasm.
I’m also watching a lot of Cowboys run their mouth about how special they are, etc etc. That sounds a lot like their moronic GM and owner Jerry Jones. And it normally leads to overconfidence and a meltdown somewhere along the line at a really inopportune time.
But at the end of the day…I’d love for this team to be THE team that finally puts it all together. I want to believe it is, but it’s way way early.

Completely agree that shutting down Zach Wilson isn't cause for chest thumping and celebration. But what the Cowboys offense was able to do vs. a Jets defense that's considered top 5 by practically everyone in the industry....that was pretty impressive and promising. That was the main thing I took away from the contest because defenses like that are what have had Kellen Moore's number.

That same Jets defense completely shut down a Bills team that most people think is better than Dallas. They forced Josh Allen, a QB that every non-Cowboys fan has rated above Dak, into 4 turnovers. Dak and the offense played a mostly clean game and put up 30 on the scoreboard. That's nothing to just scoff at and brush aside.

As for the red zone issues. Some of that was bad execution but I think most of it was just McCarthy not wanting to do anything too risky knowing that the Jets offense couldn't move the ball. The only way the Jets were coming back from a 10 point deficit is if Dak started doing retarded shit like Josh Allen did the week before. So he managed the game according to how it was playing out. I'm fine with that.

There's no doubt in my mind that if Aaron Rodgers were healthy and played in that game, the Cowboys red zone play calling would have looked a lot different.

I mean I never bought into the Wilson hype after they beat the Bills. But you also have to sort of look at it from the flip side. Our defense is better than the Bills defense. We are going to make QBs look awful because we have a bad ass secondary and a deadly pass rush. I don't think many QBs are going to look great against this defense. Even when you think you have this defense beat a dude like Hooker comes out of nowhere to pick your pass off.

The sample size is small right now but it's funny how after week 1 Wilson looks like he has turned the corner. After week two he looks like a total dumpster fire. The truth is probably somewhere inbetween. Wilson wasn't back there just missing wide open guys. He was getting pressure almost instantly on every play.

Yep. I’m not totally discounting what we did against the Jets. Everyone is entitled to their opinions….my opinion is that regardless of what we did against the Jets, it was still the old Wilson that was running their offense. They didn’t convert 3rd downs, had no run game, had no TOP. They abandoned their run game when they were only down 10. Yes, a lot of that was our D, some on their OC, but a lot was because it was Wilson and their OL inability to adjust to what DQ was throwing at them. We struggled to score against a completely gassed D. The Jets D are 2 games in. Maybe they are great, maybe they’re overhyped, maybe we will have the best D in the league. It’s just early for all the chest thumping.

I did enjoy seeing Dak scramble a few times against the Jets. And he looked like he may have gotten some of his speed back…that was always a very important part of his game- he always seemed to throw the ball better after he ripped off a couple runs. I hope McCarthy is encouraging him to run when there’s an opportunity, it should make it even tougher to defend the offense. Now if Gallup would just make an appearance.
