Yup.

Remember when everybody was freaking out and overreacting in the off-season, including some members of the Dallas media, thinking that what McCarthy said was going to lead to them running a 3 yards and a cloud of dust type of offense?

All of us on this board knew what he really meant and clearly so did Marcus Spears, but it was always funny to me how so many people interpreted his comments to mean that we were going to run the wishbone and shit.

:rolleyes

Damn. Spears dropping the truth on people.

Just like he said, #1 offense be damned. His situational football sucked. And Justin Herbert and the Chargers fans are about to find out. That clip of those three deep passes with a punt and loss in overtime encapsulate Moore perfectly.

Exactly.

And it was just like Garrett before him.

Their situational football IQ is about as low as it gets.

And yeah, those 3 deep incompletes brought back bad memories.

Herbert is taking some heat from it, too. Sucks for him, he's a good QB.

One thing working in his favor, I don't think they view Moore as their child savant and keep him around like Jerry did. Maybe the Chargers F.O. will figure out that Moore is all flash and no substance before he completely spoils the view of Herbert.

If they don't at least make the playoffs this year they're going to clear out the entire coaching staff. Moore might catch on as a QB coach somewhere but I'd be shocked if he got another OC job without having to work his way back up.

Pundits love to point out how people are quick to overreact to what the Cowboys do, and they're right -- but that works both ways.

"Dak hasn't really done anything"?

I'm one of his biggest critics and I said repeatedly throughout the offseason that he was the sole reason why we didn't beat the 49ers and I've questioned if we can win a SB with him.

But to act like he's not a really good QB (albeit with flaws) and that starting 13 of 13 against that defense that everyone spent all week praising is a perfect example of that overreaction going in the opposite direction.

The Cowboys are a really good team and I think it irks people that we're finally worthy of being taken seriously and they're intent to shut everything down no matter what good we do.

The other part of all this nonsense talk is that at least half of these talking heads aren't operating in good faith. They're either straight up trolls or just saying shit to get attention/clicks, whatever.

You're not getting much objective analysis from these jokers so it doesn't really matter what they say.

It looks to me like there are still times where he's uncomfortable or hesitant, which I assume is like when you're learning a new language and occasionally your brain defaults back to your native tongue. I think that will improve as the year goes on and he gets more experience in this system.

Never underestimate the power of the NFL to recycle coaches. Somebody will see those high powered Dallas offenses on his resume and be blinded.
Garrett and Linehan had a short shelf life, Moore should have taken that college gig when he had the chance.

Dak looked pretty comfortable for the most part the last 2 games. I think getting the ball out quickly suits him much better than Moores “sit back and scan the field for 4 seconds” BS. Plus, we all know how shitty the route tree was.

He had a couple WTF passes, but as of now he’s WAY down on those type of throws under McCarthy. Hopefully he keeps improving and the routes continue to evolve. McCarthy did always seem to have some really nice route trees when he was at GB.
