The narrative around the league and even with some Dallas fans that he's not a very good coach is crazy. When Rodgers started whining about him in Green Bay, that shit took hold hard.

What people didn't know then that they know now is that Rodgers is a whiny little bitch who complains about anything that isn't exactly the way he wants it to be.

This was the first year we started 1-0 under McCarthy. We have lost all three openers under him before this.

Losses to the Rams, Bucs and Bucs.

It’s true, but 2/3 seasons that has proved meaningless. It’s how you finish that counts.

Yeah which is nice. Starting with a win just makes it that much easier going forward for the NFC East standings. Which are going to mater come playoff time which is where we all ultimately need to see things progress. We have all gotten to enjoy the regular season success but we haven't done much of anything in the playoffs in way too long.

Maybe, maybe not.

Last season, I think winning game 1 might have helped their seeding in the playoffs and helped them avoid SF. Maybe even get the 1 seed. It might have helped them get further.

It’s hard to say how it would impact seeding and playoff pairing. But we were postseason bound for the second consecutive year.

In terms of actually making the playoffs I agree with you. The first game of the NFL season has little bearing on it other than it's a win or a loss on your record. This year was a little more important as this was an NFC East game as opposed to the Rams or Bucs. But in the end it's way more important how you're playing in December as opposed to how you're playing in September. So I get what you're saying.

Still the win helps. No denying that. Just gives us an advantage we didn't enjoy the last few years.

Agreed , my bar was set low for so long. I need to raise my expectations to meet this new standard of elevated play . This win will be very significant now that HFA is realistic and pivotal.

Seriously, this was the nail.

People develop doubts about almost any coach in general to start with, and MM being chubby and not so serious looking doesn’t help his image. Then his first ballot HOF QB throws him under a bus and his no-name successor dominates the year after he left.

Undermined his Lombardi cred.

Definitely would have boosted their confidence to have taken down Tampa Bay after that last minute loss the previous year.

That first game vs Philadelphia would have been a win, I believe, because Dak would have forced Hurts to step up his game. Rush’s average play let Philly play conservatively and still win.

The best QB Hurts faced all last year was Kirk Cousins until Mahomes in the Super Bowl. I think Dak is better than Kirk, and makes Dallas a much more dangerous team.
