First stab at a full 1st.

Hard not to see there will be some real trade activity at the back end of the round.

why you take Zion away? why??
Because it always happens like that.

Here is how the rest of our draft went with that pass.

I could live with that.

Of course you could, it was way better than Goof Son could do on his best day.
Last year was pretty good. Did he have anything to do with that? About as much as he will this year?

Or is that not decided until after we see who we draft.

Last year was fine but not great outside of Parsons, which was about the consensus at the time of the draft. Joseph seemed unnecessary and mostly a function of the front office being obsessed with CB's. He may still turn into a solid contributor but at the time most of us felt that we could've done way better, and looking back, we could have.

And usually with players many of us wanted at the time (Moehrig, Ojulari, etc.).

Odighizuwa was fine, Golston was a slight reach, Wright was a big reach, Cox was considered a steal, and the rest was fine. People were excited about Bohanna just because he was big, and Mukuamu because he was highly touted at one point in his career, but neither were considered game changers.

The 2020 draft was the one that I think people were really excited about, and it turns out with good reason mostly.

We will really see how that 2021 class is this year. We had a lot of picks in 2021 and they made the roster. We really need those guys outside of Parsons to grow and develop. I still like the 2021 class but Golston needs to be a real contributor this year. We drafted him the third round. He played like a third rounders last year. Odigy played very well for a third rounder. I'd like to see him sort of make a leap and I really think he can. All those guys who made the roster from the class won't work out (Wright, still looking at you) but I think some more will become staples besides Parsons.

I think Cox is going to be a real player for this defense this year. I think Bossman is destined to start this year and have my fingers crossed. Oddigy will likely start. Golston is going to be heavy in the rotation at end. I mean if a draft turns into 3 really good starters and one of them is an all timer (Parsons) that is an excellent draft class.

And the rest of those guys you just hope can fill roles this year like Bohanna, or Ball or Muakuamu. Basically most NFL players take a year to really develop in the NFL. So now we will really see if these guys do.

I think we did need a corner last year. Looks like it with hindsight, but nobody predicted Anthony Brown to be a competent to good starter the way he was.

Odiggy I think has a chance to be a very good player. He showed the ability last year, he just was forced into playing too many snaps too early and got worn down.

The rest look like decent role players and contributors... except I still really liked Ball's "tape" and think he could be more.

I think last years class is better than you're giving it credit for. And I disagree with us not needing a corner, regardless of the so-called obsession with corners. That is overblown by fans.

I felt pretty adamant that we didn't need to go CB high, just like we don't need to go WR high this year.

Taking Surtain as a BPA at 10 was fine but there was no need to force it like they did in the 2nd. Diggs was an obvious starter, they had just resigned Lewis who had good pedigree and was at least a good slot, and Brown had started for us plenty and was also at least a good slot.

We could've easily waited until the 3rd or 4th, I wanted Paulson Adebo in that range, but because the FO was (is?) obsessed with the position they felt that a medium-sized need had to be addressed with a premium pick.

Just like WR this year. Aside from Gallup missing the first month or so, we only really need a WR2/3 long term if Lamb/Gallup are your top 2, but they'll probably go overboard addressing the need because there are certain positions this organization likes drafting vs. others.

Yeah Brown surprised last year with his play but corner absolutely looked like a need. Diggs wasn't this elite corner on one side at that point. And Brown looked fucking awful.

And honestly if Bossman becomes an upgrade at corner this year, who cares. If we didn't have him, corner would be a big need in this draft too...

It's still up in the air but at the moment it seems to be tracking with how most of us perceived it right after the draft (i.e. a potential stud in Parsons, an unpredictable risk in Joseph, a possible steal in Cox, a solid mid-round guy in Osa and a bunch of JAG's).

We could've taken Ojulari, who looks like a pretty legit edge rusher, or traded up 3 spots for Moehrig who was a full-time starter at safety last year. How good would our pass rush look with Ojulari even without Gregory?

Joseph may be fine but we could've done way better and it was a forced pick because they unnecessarily fret over CB.

I mean you're talking about needing a starting WR. That makes it a pretty big need. We don't even have serviceable options there right now. Maybe if we had the WR equivalent of Brown I could agree. But we don't. It's a massive hole that's going to make our offense unwatchable bad right now.

I've been looking at the Oline depth in this class though and I actually like a lot of those guys. If we skip guard in the first it really should be something that can easily be addressed in rounds 2, 3 or even possibly 4.

And this is the funny part to me. So go back and take Ojulari. He sits behind Lawrence, Gregory, Parsons and probably some of the veterans. He plays some but probably not a lot.

Would people feel the same way about him? Or would it be how we view Bossman right now? There would probably be a number of people on here who think he isn't much of anything.

What do you consider a starter?

Top 2? 3?

Because the reality is that once Gallup is back we really only need a WR2/3, which doesn't require a 1 by any stretch of the imagination. So "needing a starter" is only really applicable for maybe 4-6 games.

If WR were by far the BPA I'd be fine with it but I can't see any scenario where that happens. If it's close, and it will be, I'd rather go elsewhere.

WR is deep every year now basically, and we could easily get by long-term with a Cedrick Wilson type. We shouldn't wait until the 5th obviously but considering we got Gallup in the mid-3rd there's absolutely no reason to force a WR in the first.
