They don't have to be good on special teams but they almost always play special teams.
Yea I have serious doubts Dez could play anywhere on ST's now, and having him as our 4th wr so fans can feel good about their fav guy from 5 years ago is everything wrong we're trying to move away from

A very small percentage of plays each. The point is that it wasn't "#4 receiver" playing special teams all the time. And therefore it's not a valid excuse not to sign Bryant.

Ventell Bryant played a shit ton of special teams snaps.

Wilson and Austin played special teams but Austin was basically just as a returner and Wilson was hurt.

And Ventell Bryant can play them some more, as the 6th or 7th receiver.

The point stands that you don't have to have your "4th receiver" play special teams. If people want to find reasons not to give Dez another shot, special teams isn't it.

There is nothing I can see that having Dez Bryant back on the roster would be an improvement to the production of the team. His negative traits outweighs his current unknown qualities. When he was cut from the roster he wasn’t doing anything that would make him of any value to the team and he has been inactive since he was released. There is plenty of younger and hungrier young talent that would probably be more productive and with more upside for less cost. He had a great opportunity to be an outstanding reciever but for whatever reason he just went slack and was no longer an asset. It’s a waste of time to try to validate his return to to Dallas Cowboys.

Your sixth or seventh WR is rarely active on game day.

It would be interesting to see Dez in a role where he knew he was not the #1 guy. You know he’d work his ass off to get more production though, and I think that would raise the competition bar at the position.

Problems start in Dallas when players and coaches start feeling entitled. Dez wouldn’t have that concern any more.

Yeah, so you're suggesting we sign Dez to have him inactive on gamedays?

He wouldn't be. Just like our 4th receivers weren't inactive last year. Again, there are enough valid reasons for not wanting a Dez return that people don't have to make things up.
