2022 Cowboys Free Agency Thread

There’s no Romo, Ware, and Witten to carry them to 8-8 or 8-9 or whatever.

Smith is in his last seasons. Lamb has the dropsies. Dak is just ok. Lawrence is old. Parsons and Martin are two guys.

I wonder if the reality of that has struck?

At least the draft pick will be higher next year. I think barring a miracle one of the division teams finally passes us

Or they're clearing the decks for Payton in a year or two, which aside from the smoke is definitely plausible given the weird McCarthy situation.

Yea they're completely delusional.

That quote from Jerry is the literal encapsulation of what I like to call the Olawale Doctrine, which is Stephen's guiding principle in FA strategy.

The Olawale Doctrine states that it's better to sign 5 Olawale's on 1 year/1.5 million deals than 1 impact player for 7-8 million/year.
has this been added to the DCC lexicon?

We play in an awful division so we may still may work our way to 8 or 9 wins but that's probably my prediction for next year. I think we will have a good defense and an offense that takes a few steps backwards. I think we will be further away from beating good teams but still be able to feast on shitty teams.
Yeah, we'll probably sneak in the back door of the playoffs. And before we get stomped in the wildcard we'll have to listen a week full of "We Dem' Boys!" and "The Boys are Back dc4l". After the wildcard ass beating comes the "Next year is our year!" crap

And sadly I think this may be best case scenario for next year. Which may actually be worst case if you'd prefer a high draft pick.

The money-making factory has been on auto-pilot for awhile now, no need to change a thing.

Not this year.

Shit on Dak all you want, but he is way out in front of the other three in this division.
And I don't mean to shit on him, but I think he needs ammunition to be effective and he now has an average to below average OL, an unproven top WR (and WR corps overall given Gallup's recovery), and a suspect running game behind that average OL.

The defense (fucking still) can't stop teams determined to run the football.

Each of the Giants and Eagles have multiple high first round picks that can lift their teams. We beat them with our passing game, which lost major talent to recent cuts and age. Our best offensive player will be 32 by the time the playoffs roll around.

When was the last time a team won this pathetic division (that had two playoff teams last year) in back to back years?

Not exactly the Olawale doctrine but it typifies the lack of creativity/insular mindset of the organization by only looking at players already in the organization or friends of the DC.

The only thing that gives them any benefit of the doubt whatsoever is that Quinn may know best what he needs for the defense.

You realize Fowler and LVE were 1st rounders, right?

What if Fowler is this year’s Kearse? Can lightening strike twice? Quinn did it once.

He's been a borderline 10 sack guy a few times in his career, so theoretically yes, but it'd be insane to bank on him as basically our 3rd edge rusher.

I equate Fowler with Armstrong, Basham and Gholston.

Just like the unholy amount of turnovers, Quinn hitting the jackpot twice would be incredible.

Not really.

He had 8 sacks once, and 11.5 once.

The rest of his career, the most he had was 4.5.

Odds are he won't do much in Dallas, as has been the case the majority of his career and particularly the past couple of years.
