2022 Cowboys Free Agency Thread

I'll say it again, I honestly didn't think it could be worse than Jerry.

I was so wrong.
Is it really, tho? When Jerry took the controls, we crashed and burned pretty hard. Strung together some losing seasons with abysmal talent.

Lately, with Stephen more in control, yeah... We still haven't won shit. But we are a lot more competitive and are drafting better than we have in a long time.

So, I guess pick your poison. Would you rather bottom out and stay there for a long stretch, or float in purgatory? Have some successful seasons with no playoff success.

Both suck, but I wouldn't say it is worse than when Jerry was in complete control.

Im to the point that I think the team needs to sink to 1988 level suckitude. Then, and only then, will the value of the franchise possibly sink to a level that will force the Jones to sell. Then there may be hope.

Sean Payton is our last hope. Someone Jerry seems to love enough to actually override Stephen.

:lol

The Jones' are not selling. Ever.

The best you can hope for is that after Stephen, maybe a grandson, or great-grandson will not be interested enough to want to deal with the day to day and hire somebody else to do it while they just sit back and watch the cash roll in. Because it will. Even with losing seasons. That's the way the NFL is built these days. REVENUE SHARING. The league is now built to not let teams fail fiscally. Sure, some will make more than others. But none will go bankrupt.

Bad news is, even with the remote possibility of the above scenario taking place, you'll be already dead and can't enjoy it. Sorry.

I don't disagree, at all, but damn you are a DFDC. Again, you're not wrong. Just an asshole.

There's no hope in that.

It'll be the same as it always has been. Payton isn't Parcells.

Payton isn't Parcells. But Payton is a great coach who Jerry actually appears to love and respect. This isn't about the quality of coach though. This is about a coach who Jerry will actually respect, listen to and comply with. Parcells was great but him and Jerry butted heads. Jimmy was great for a short period until Jerry got jealous. We need a coach who can get Jerry to act the way he did when he first hired Jimmy.

Sean Payton would be the closest thing to Jimmy in terms of the way Jerry would treat him initially in my opinion.

Yea Payton is the closest we'll get to a HC with Parcells-like authority for the rest of Jerry's life.

That dude is about to turn 80 and he looks like he would rather die than give up any control except to his gummy bear progeny.
People retire for many reasons even well before that age.
This guy thinks he's about to go Benjamin Button, or something.

God, the Joneses believe we have the dumbest fans on the planet to peddle this bullshit.

And they are probably right.

They only need worry about the casuals, which probably take up about 80 percent of the base.
Us folks that feed on this team like air and water?
They know we won't leave.

You ain't going anywhere homie.
They got you on that thick leash and there's an invisible fence called all the other teams you despise to keep you on the range.

A. Yes you could, liar.

B. Even IF it was true (it's not), in that scenario you keep Cooper and let the lesser player in Gallup go.

Frigging idiots.

Maybe the media could critically assess lies statements and not just play stenographer?
And fall out of the Jones' good favor?

I shudder at the thought.
