2026 Season | Week 5 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Bucs @ Cowboys | 10/08/2026

On that third and 21, his defensive call was some kind of midrange prevent? What the hell was that? Man on the outside, middle zone -some weird cushion defense at the sticks that I don't understand. Also Bland fell down playing the man on the outside I think, he also fell down on the long pass. Then he dropped a sure interception, which probably didn't matter because he would've fell down again. Also the penalties on defense are atrocious. Cost us the game early, I believe.

Yeah, that play design just baffles me.

It's like some bastardized Cover 4 but not a total Cover 4 but whatever the hell it was, it was one of the worst designed plays he could have called for in that scenario.

It gave the Bucs EXACTLY the look they needed to convert. What's worse, it made the job of an UDFA QB incredibly easy because it gave him next to no information to have to process (which is the exact opposite of what you want facing an inexperienced passer) because all he had to do was sit and wait until one his targets got to his spot.

It's the most blatant example in this early season of just how clueless Christian Parker is.

I don't know what the fuck this guy was doing in Philly but he must've just been a glorified skills development type, working on footwork, hand placement and shit with the DB's.

Because schematically he looks like he has no clue what the fuck is going on around him.

Ravi, you can't be serious.

Speaking of which, Jane Slater talked to Jerry after the game and he reiterated that they could very well be in the market to make further improvements.

:doh

This fucking buffoon is going to throw away all of our draft capital trying to patch the Titanic when what he really should be doing is looking to replace and improve the coaching.
If we had real coaching, these personnel moves would make Jerry look like a genius.

That is exactly what it looks like.

I think the play at the end of the Ravens game and the 3rd and 21 from last night prove just how clueless the guy is.

He took two vastly different approaches to a very similar sequence, and yet both ended up being disastrous.

That's about as clear an indictment as you're gonna see of a coach who doesn't know what to do.

Yeah, and if I had shorts arms and were 50 feet tall I would be a T-Rex.

I agree in that there's legitimate talent here, even on defense.

The problem is they're being led by coach who has no idea what to do.

I think we can win SOME of the time in spite of Schotty, but we cannot win in spite of Parker.

The longer we hold on to him, the more we're decreasing our odds of making something out of this season.

I hate to take focus away from how bad the coaching has been, but Bland had an all time bad game last night. He's killing us. Time to move on.

Oof that's rough. He fell down enough and was out of position enough that I don't think it's a cleat issue, it's a "I don't have enough strength in my foot because I've had too much surgery on it" issue. He may be out of the game entirely in a year.

He is a complete liability and I don't know what happened to the guy that he is constantly falling down.

Remember last season when we lost to the Cardinals at home? The exact same thing happened to him in the endzone on a simple slant route by Marvin Harrison Jr. of all people.

The guy is absolutely finished.

I don't know how anyone in that organization can say with a straight face that they are serious about winning if Bland and Ferguson start the next game.

They're both bad players playing at such a poor level that they are literally contributing multiple times a game to us losing.

I still can’t believe we lost to another young backup. There’s Colt McCoy, Matt Flynn, Josh Dobbs and a Bears QB in there somewhere and more.

An undrafted rookie QB in his second start on a winless team at home with momma shoveling ‘slaw into her face on HD primetime. This is a new bar

Also if we look logically at Bland's playstyle, he thrived in an environment where he could hunt picks because we had extreme pressure on the QB. You sure as hell can't hunt interceptions with this squad.

Given how often he's lost his footing the last 2 seasons, I think this is a very real possibility.

And if it is, he's finished.
