UFC/MMA Thread

That feels a little different to me.
Yes, I was a little hyperbolic but the point remains. Just because it has been done in the past doesn't mean it should still be done today.

Teddy Roosevelt held boxing and tennis matches on the White House lawn, even participating in boxing matches himself. One of his matches resulted in his retina getting detached and Roosevelt losing vision in one eye.

He was such an interesting figure in American history. One of my favorites

Who the fuck is this dude? He apparently thinks very highly of himself. Plus, it would appear he is a fucking idiot.

I don't follow MMA but he's come across my purview because he has a penchant for saying things that rile up the woke crowd. He's also known for his hyperbolic bravado and self promotion, which I suspect he's doing here. I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Per Grok, some of his statements:

On Women and Gender RolesWomen in the workforce: "We need to go back to taking women out of the workforce... We let women vote, no offense... We need to put women back in the kitchen, only one man needs to be working." He has argued this change harmed society, wages, and family structures, idealizing pre-1960s America.

On women's sports/MMA: "No one gives a fk about women’s sports." He claimed the "weakest, softest motherfker" in the room could beat Amanda Nunes and dismissed interest in events like a potential Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight (suggesting they fight "half naked" in one rant).

These drew criticism for misogyny and undermining female athletes, including responses from fighters like Amanda Nunes.

On LGBTQ+ IssuesGay son comment (2021-2022 tweet and follow-ups): "If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man to create such weakness." When pressed by a reporter (who said he'd be fine with a gay son), Strickland called him a "weak f**king man," an "infection," and part of societal problems.

On transgender people: He has called being trans a "mental f**king illness" (referencing pre-2010s views) and criticized Bud Light's Dylan Mulvaney campaign and related cultural shifts.

"I'll make fun of gays any chance I get" and related rants, including equating homosexuality to a form of intellectual disability in one older comment.

These have led to accusations of homophobia and trans
phobia.

Recent Rants (e.g., 2026 Bad Bunny/NFL Tirade)During a UFC/Paramount+ media day, Strickland went on a lengthy, expletive-filled rant:Called Bad Bunny (Super Bowl halftime performer) a "fking f—-t" (Puerto Rican slur context) and mocked the NFL for "ruining" masculinity by "gaying it up" with a "gay foreigner who doesn’t speak fking English."
Reiterated views on women's empowerment ruining society and dismissed women's sports.

He has also made broader comments on politics (e.g., criticizing Justin Trudeau, supporting traditional/wall-building policies), wars needing to "harden" people, and other cultural issues.

Context and reception: Strickland often frames these as unapologetic "truth-telling" or humor, leaning into a hyper-masculine, anti-"woke" persona. Supporters praise his authenticity and free speech; critics (including media, LGBTQ+ groups, and some fans) call them bigoted, harmful, or attention-seeking. UFC's Dana White has generally defended him, sometimes blaming media questioning.

His style generates massive engagement but also boycotts, sponsor scrutiny, and event controversies. Views evolve or get walked back occasionally (e.g., calling the gay son tweet a joke at times), but the pattern persists. For full clips, search UFC press conferences or his interviews

I'm sure this ruffled feathers in more circles than just the woke crowd. I know my wife would bristle at this. :lol
"No one gives a fk about women’s sports."
He's right here.
He has called being trans a "mental f**king illness"
And here.

But, he is still an idiot. Intentional (for attention) or not, he comes across as a moron.

Like I said, he is a moron. And I had never heard of him until today. Didn't take long to figure him out.
