I endorse this.
Absolutely.Data centers consume vast amounts of electricity. I do not like it if it makes normal things expensive. And it seems like it is doing that and other annoying and inconvenient things.
Uh…how about no?
This is what we have to look forward to with AI. You can bet it's going to happen. We let go of a lot of our liberties in the guise of safety with the Patriot Act after 9/11. They will present facial recognition as public safety. "We will only use it to find the bad guys we promise"
It's coming.
You can't.how can you trust it on important things?
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Reminds me of when I have sat in meetings with BOR members or upper members of the administration at Tech. All they do is sit around and compliment each other. "Gary, what a great point!" and then proceeds to completely disagree with Gary. It's freaking annoying. And another thing - this is more the Gen Xer in me - but there's this almost patronizing attitude in the conversational tone. "Good call!" "Great idea!" "You're totally thinking correctly on this!"
You can just tell me the facts. You don't have to constantly praise me like I'm a millennial who needs endless positive reinforcement. But I'm sure that's who wrote these things.
Have you guys noticed how many mistakes the big AI search engines make? Especially Google, which is supposed to be the king of everything.
Small example, looking at getting a new laptop and considering two models. First it says get the cheaper one, it's a great deal and adding memory costs only $35-40. I look around and see that memory is more like $100-120. "Oh, you're right, sorry for that mistake. That changes the value equation significantly. The (more expensive one) is a much better deal."
Then it got the stock memory of the cheaper one wrong, so I correct it. "My mistake, you're completely right..." Now the first one is back to the better deal, blah blah blah.
If it can't even get basic facts like this right, how can you trust it on important things?
For now.
Isn't that kind of strange, though? I'm not talking about complex searches, just how much does a stick of memory cost on Amazon today? Doesn't really matter what it cost six months ago. Should be extremely simple and I'm not sure how it can get these basic things so wrong. You definitely have to check it against its sources and your own logic.
