2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

Not right now, we can't do that. The only scenario where I'd be ok with taking anything on offense is if we add multiple extra picks in the top 3 or 4 rounds.
Almost said that if we added an extra pick or two, I'd be a lot more open to an OT early. Say if two of our top three were defense, or three of our first four. But I assume here we're talking about taking one at 12, and that just seems like too much. I don't think even they would do that.

And to add, I'd also have been more open to it if these dummies had just signed a good ILB like were out there. But of course they had to ignore it and make us dependent on a rookie again.

The Georgia guys just had to stay together... Lame as shit.

Speaking of LBer the more I dig into the class the more I like the potential options for drafting 2 LBers. A guy I find really intriguing right now is Red Murdock. 17 forced fumbles in 34 games is insane. He broke Khalil Macks record that took him 46 games to set. The guy is an absolute tackling machine. And also chipped in like 5 sacks.

Nice size at like 6'2" 232 pounds. His speed is only ok but I don't freak out over a 4.7 speed LBer if they have great instincts. Anyway, just a name for day three whose production is so insane to me he is hard to ignore.

Sure but it's still on our front office.

We have almost nothing at ILB and there were plenty of useful players on the market at the position. And yet they targeted one of 2 guys.

I don't know if it was lazy or cheap or both but it's inexcusable regardless.

Totally agree. The level of competition is a bit concerning but I'd be all over him in the later rounds. Very intriguing guy.

And yeah I definitely feel like we need two ILBs from this draft.

Definitely. Right now we have Overshown, Shemar James, and someone named Justin Barron. I think that's it.

That's why I'm feeling like Cujo towards our vaunted front office this fine Sunday morning. :angry

Yeah I'm thinking like fifth round. I wouldn't have enough faith to make him the guy I trust to start next to Overshown but I think he could end up being a player. At minimum I think he is a special teams stud and a big upgrade for depth at LBer.

Super great academic guy too so the smarts should all be there.

I'm seeing 6-7th round but who knows how accurate that is.

I think at this point I'd lean towards Mesidor but I'd be open to Thieneman.

But that's only if the top 7 defenders including McCoy are gone. If McCoy is there and the rest are gone, take McCoy.

All assuming no trade down is available.

Yea in this exercise I'm assuming the top 7 Re gone and we can't trade down.

The problem is this isn't a good OT class. It's not good at all. These OTs I think are being pushed up that don't deserve it. I think Mauigoa is legit but after that I'm just like, these feel like your standard 20-32 type OTs. I don't see Fano as BPA. I see him as, well he is the second best so we assume he will go this high.

I kind of like Proctor but that's just because I'm always a fan of the monster size OTs. Flozell Adams types if you will.

Proctor is the sort of terrible one that would piss me off at 12, maybe even 20.

He was beaten badly so many times this year it was hard to keep track, including by everyone's favorite Faulk. It's why he went from being talked about as top 5 early in the year to a mid/late 1.

I am absolutely open to McCoy at 12. His workout sealed it for me. He is going to be an elite CB in this league, I think. But, only if can not trade down and D Bay is gone.

Brugler says 4th-5th. But who knows. We have 3 fifths and no sixth. So my thought is he make sense with one of those fifths if he is still there.

Fourth is too rich for my blood on him.

I forgot we don't have a fifth. I wouldn't be mad at a late 5th for him.

I'm open to him in a last of the Mohicans scenario but I'm still not entirely comfortable with him.

And I believe there's a pretty good chance he or one of the other top 7 guys are there at 12.

Let's just hope that Brooks is still on the table for a trade.
