2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

You're right. I have not watched 3-4 full games of him. So, I guess I will bow out of the conversation and let the "gurus" on the board talk about him.

I'm not going to pretend that I watch 3-4 games of many or even most prospects, but Faulk is one because I think it's such a complex evaluation.

With that said, if someone (not you specifically, but several of you) are going to argue over and over that a guy should go 50-100 picks later than I think he should (and where he likely will go), I'm going to need to hear more than about highlight videos or whatever.

I know that's your MO as far as guys without production, etc., we've had several of these conversations over the years and I don't blame anybody for having him as a 2nd, maybe even a late 2nd.

I'm just saying talking about him as a 3/4 is ridiculous in my opinion, which I've discussed way too many times.

Yeah I don't think he is a fourth round talent. That probably is underrating run stopping ability at that point.

The one DE that I can think of like this that I was wrong about was Travon Walker. I'll admit he has turned into a better NFL player than I thought he would be. We will see on Mykel Williams, we had a lot of the same disagreement on him last year. Add Faulk to the wait and see. I just hope it's not in Dallas.

Maybe I'm being unfair to Faulk. I like him, just don't like him anywhere in the first round. I think he could be a starter here at DE. I'd love him in the third. I'd be good with him in the second. I'd hate him in the first. At 20 years old he could become what you think. Add 10 pounds and grow into it. I just don't see it right now. I see more of what you're talking about in Dennis-Sutton than Faulk.

Exactly.

Maybe I missed something. But where was Faulk said to be a 3rd/4th round guy? I compared him to Spears originally in his projected output. Canty was brought up and I agreed that was a good comp. Size and projected production wise. Not that it meant that Faulk was also a 4th round project. I agree that he'll more than likely go in the first round. I just hope it isn't us. Unless it's at the bottom of the first after we get multiple picks back in a trade down. Otherwise, let somebody else gamble on his measurables.

The only other thing I could think of where I might have been misunderstood saying he was a 3rd/4th round guy was when I said guys with his production are usually drafted there. But just like QBs, this league is starved for pass rushers and will overrate them when drafting them. Aside from his proven worth as a run stopper (which isn't a first round trait for an EDGE) the only thing I see positive about Faulk is his measurables and his age. And just like QBs, the league is willing to gamble on that panning out. If we had a defense that wasn't shot full of holes, I'd be more willing to gamble on that. But we don't, and I'm not.

I said end of the second and I will stick with that. As it stands right now he is a one trick pony. I need more than that in the first 2 rounds. But, take my comment with a grain of salt, because I didn't watch 9-12 hours of him playing.

Well you've got an assignment for tonight. Please report back tomorrow. Warning, you may come back more impressed by Crawford than Faulk. Just look for the freakishly tall guy out there and you won't get confused.

Haven't you been calling him a 3rd for weeks now?

Maybe not since it all runs together but that's what I remember.

This one definitely deserves an fpickering. Hang tight, boys.

I have not heard of this special kind of insanity yet.

You people are going to start making me hit the ban button because I'm growing VERY tired of uneducated statements like this. Go to The Athletic and see what they think of Faulk. Then, post it. Boozepickering, YOU WILL POST THIS NEXT.

If I see your name beside a post after this time stamp that does not include what a major draft resource like The Athletic has on this player, I will give you a couple of days off. You people WILL START THINKING AND START PROCESSING INFORMATION BEFORE YOU POST IDIOCY.

Watched a Schrager/Jeremiah mock from a few days ago and thought a few points were interesting:

-Jeremiah has been doing Chargers radio for several years and had the Saints picking McCoy over Delane and Bain (Staley is the DC there, formerly the Chargers HC before Harbaugh, so Jeremiah presumably knows his tendencies). Said McCoy is exactly the type of pick Staley would be all over.
-Said it's better than 50/50 that McCoy passes up Delane as CB1 off the board, which would obviously be great.
-Jeremiah was also a scout for the Eagles under Reid for a few years and said Fano is the exact type of OL Reid likes, also mentioned that Kyle Whittingham's son was on the Chiefs staff for 7 years before just leaving in the last few months to go to Michigan.

Who knows how accurate any of that is exactly, but I couldn't think of two more ideals picks for us at 8 and 9 than McCoy and Fano, and the Reid/Utah connections are especially interesting.

They had us picking Downs at 12, of course, and Colton Hood at 20, both picks made by Jeremiah.

Saw this too. I think there’s a real chance both corners go before Downs, similar to 2021 when both went ahead of our pick and we lucked into Parsons

If the tea leaves are true about McCoy I think both will almost definitely go ahead of him, unless the Giants fall in love at 5, which seems unlikely.
