It seems he has played outside CB most of his career. So, we still need a slot, but we may have solidified one outside CB spot.
For the record:
Cobie Durant has played in the slot (nickel corner) quite a bit during his career, though his role has shifted more toward the boundary (outside) in recent seasons.
Early in his NFL tenure with the Rams (especially as a rookie in 2022 and into 2023), he saw significant slot usage. For example:
In 2022 (his rookie year), he played the vast majority of his snaps in the slot, where he excelled—PFF ranked him No. 1 among slot corners in passer rating allowed (around 48.4 on limited snaps).
In 2023, he was deployed more as a slot option, with reports of about 349 inside snaps that year.
Overall career splits (per PFF data referenced across sources):He accumulated 689 snaps in the slot over his four seasons with the Rams.
In contrast, he had 1,847 snaps at corner (mostly boundary/outside).
More recently:In 2024, he had around 132 slot snaps.
In 2025 (his last season with LAR), slot usage dropped sharply to just 36 snaps (including playoffs), with most of his work (e.g., 744+ boundary snaps in one report) on the outside as a starting corner.
This versatility is a big reason the Cowboys signed him—he can handle outside duties but also provide nickel flexibility in the slot if needed, especially in sub-packages. Many reactions to his signing highlight his ability to play both outside and inside effectively.
