He'll be a backup here if he returns. If they tendered him on the second round tender and nobody signed him (which is likely since they'd owe us their 2nd), then we'd be stuck paying both Bass (whom they already tendered) and Hoffman several million each to be backups.

They just chose Bass over Hoffman which I agree with.

I think they could have tendered him less than the second round tender. Which really I think just gives you the right to match whatever another team offers. And my guess is whatever that amount is would be too rich for us anyway.

I wish the man luck. But I agree, I prefer Bass. Just a more physically gifted player.

If we cut Hooker we would have very little dead cap and about $7M in savings, the fact that we're keeping him tells me Parker feels pretty good about him as a starter.
