Defensive Coordinator Candidates

There's nothing wrong with hiring a fired HC, it's worked out plenty across the league. I also don't think Glenn is in the same "familiarity" boat as Eberflus when Glenn only played here for like two years 20 years ago whereas Eberflus coached here for about 6-7 within the last decade.

Generally no, but I haven't been particularly impressed with Glenn as a DC. Much the same as one might say about Eberflus in retrospect.

I thought his defense in Detroit last season was pretty good and that was with dealing with 20 something injuries.

20th in YPG and 7th in PPG.

In 2023 their defense was 23rd in PPG and 19th in YPG.

Not saying the guy is Eberflus bad but highly overrated as a defensive coordinator.

He is part of the Johnson thing in Chicago.

Nahshon is killing it.

He is a really good DB coach. Excellent with corners. Just not sure he is anything more. We really need someone who can dial up stuff with the front 7. Not sure that's in Harris. But I've never interviewed the guy either.

I saw Giraffe get juked out of his shoes last night. The picks are nice but I have a feeling it's not great otherwise.

He had him in Dallas and did nothing.
He’s really vibing with that winning culture rn, and I don’t think it will stay with him should he leave.

I mean he single-handedly stopped a tush push. Who does that?

The eagles are only like 67% on it this year. Somebody's stopping it.

I agree here… just because you were a failure as a HC doesn’t translate into a failure as a DC. Some coaches just aren’t built to take the HC position. Elberfuck wasn’t that impressive as a DC anyway regardless of his promo to HC. For instance a name we know all too well.. Wade Phillips. An absolute abortion of a HC, however can coordinate on hell of a defense ..

I thought Glenn did a very good job in his final year as Lions DC. He had been shaky in seasons prior though.

I also thought Eberflus would be a good hire as DC here too so take it with a grain of salt I suppose.

One random thought on Flores, supposedly Minnesota is "working on" an extension for him. The rumors last week could've definitely just been his agent leveraging the media, but if a deal isn't done by about a week from now I think you have to assume there are legs to him leaving, barring getting an unlikely HC job.

He is going to demand coin.

So it's obviously only a matter of time until Eberflus is gone, let's see your rankings of who we want to replace him. For now I'm just going to assume that everyone that is a tossup (Bowles, etc.) become available:

1. Brian Flores
2. Todd Bowles
3. Jim Schwartz
4. Jim Leonhard
5. Leslie Frazier
6. Jonathan Gannon
7. Al Harris
8. Raheem Morris
9. Mike Pettine
10. Christian Parker (fuck it, if the cupboard is this bare let's just poach a few coaches from the Eagles defensive staff and hope it fucks them a bit)
