Was the character a raging homo in the game? Because that part seemed entirely unnecessary. I guess they were going for woke points, but it didn't make any sense.
I don't think he was a raging homo in the show.

The character was developed well and I don't have any issue with the storyline.

My son tells me that it was implied in the game and of course not so obvious.

As far as the "woke points" go, I did not see it that way.

They broadened the basis of the character. I am okay with that.

Now if he were some burly ass heterosexual that they re-imaged, I would have a problem.

He was definitely gay in the game. But it was a far different relationship. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but I thought his boyfriend hung himself in the game. And it was implied it was because the dude was a asshole.

Maybe I'm remembering the game wrong though. Someone who played more recently can correct me.

He's gay in the game and a lot more redneck. Like, uber Nascar fan pounding Natty Lites type redneck. But by the time Joel and Ellie got to him, Frank had already died. We don't know how or why, he's just mentioned in passing.
I swear I thought Frank hung himself in the game. Am I losing my mind? I played a long time ago.

So if he was a true gaywad in the game, why would that episode bother anybody?

I didnt even know it was a game before yall said something about it here. Even then the talk on here didnt say anything about that. Its not really about them being gay. Just caught me off guard because its not something I was expecting to see in this type of show. Its over now and ive enjoyed the other episodes. With no vesting interest going into it I didnt need that little break from the story.

Because it skipped the entire story that was actually in the game with them and instead made an episode about a whole life that was only loosely tied to the main story of the show.

I'll admitt, lots of shows do this and it's not my favorite. Not about gay couples but they just sort of have a random back story episode about an insignificant character. That all this really was. But I think it was well done. But I enjoyed episode 4 more personally. And I think I would have enjoyed the back and fourth Bill has with Ellie in the game. The gay porno mag was sort of a toss to the story they skipped from the game.

I honestly don't remember. I kind of thought Frank was mentioned to having "left him" at first and then it turns out he went out of the town boundaries and the infected got him.

So I went back and looked. In the game they got in a fight, Frank walked out, got bit and then hung himself instead of letting himself turn.

Ya, that rings a bell. And honestly, they could have done the whole episode as they had and just had that as the ending and it would have been just as good. As previously mentioned, Bill and Ellie's interactions would have been fun to watch. But they deviated a little and it still turned out good. No complaints from me.

Yeah I agree, I think it was cool to get a little more of the backstory on the two guys. And the back story was well done. But it would have had a little more impact I think if they had let Bill be part of the story line like in the game. Instead the way they changed it sort of cut the characters off entirely from the storyline of the show and made it feel a little out of place like an episode filler.

The newest episode of Last of Us was reminiscent of the filler episodes of The Walking Dead.

See and I view episode 3 as a filler episode. Something that doesn't advance the plot and takes up an entire episode. The newest episode however very much advances the plot and introduces a couple important characters from the game.

Episode 3 was absolutely a filler. And a fucking weird one at that.

I will watch out of respect for Mel Brooks.

But I do not have my hopes up.

I love Mel Brooks and the original is one of my favorite movies so I will try to watch this. But it definitely will be ruined if it's politically correct. Political incorrectness was one of the great hallmarks of Brooks' films. That little preview did not fill me with hope.

anyone watching Shrinking? aside from the forced diversity in every episode, it's not bad.
