Thanks buddy, fortunately I have a gated entry which makes it difficult to just pop-in. They'd have to traverse a fence covered in vines, trees and bushes with a semi busy road out front with no place to park because of a culvert that runs the length of the front property line..

I've accumulated about 20 guns (mainly shotguns and rifles and a pea shooter .22 the gun store said was a piece of crap) as family members passed away and given them to me. But all I really keep handy is my good old Remington 870 shotgun by my bed (I removed the plug so it has like 10 shells) and a huge Dirty Harry pistol my step dad left me.

Speaking of the shotgun, I have a big box of shelIs I bought probably 30+ years ago. Does anyone know if shotgun shells go bad? I've been thinking about going in my backyard and firing a couple of shots but I'm afraid it could send the neighborhood into a tizzy (but there are gun shots and fire-crackers all the time so I think I could get away with it).

I prefer the shotgun since I haven't shot the pistol in a long time and hope I never have to use it. These look like dumb kids doing stupid shit like I did when I was a kid (except I NEVER brought a gun to the party) and would hate to have to use it plus given the optics who knows what would happen to a homeowner who shoots a black intruder these days

Here's the Dirty Harry gun, its heavy and huge. I don't like it and want to get a smaller Glock. The guys at the gun store were salivating over this thing:

I'll give you $800 for it

Here's a hot take I'm sure you guys will hate, I don't give two shits about all these statues of men, I think events should be remembered and honored moreso than individuals (July 4h, emancipation proclamation, etc).

Rarely can one person do much on his own so I'd be more open to honoring the men that haul my trash more than politicians who get highways, etc named after them. I'm confident a few weeks without trash service would be missed far more than most politicians ever will be. Medal of Honor recipients and the like also qualify

The idea of a single strong leader needs to go the way of the Dodo bird imo

However, I HATE the burning of the flag and when I see shit like this my immediate reaction is to want to strip them of their citizenship if they hate it here so bad and give them a first class trip to someplace like North Korea and see if that changes their opinion of the US

Pulling down statues is only the first step in silencing dissenting voices. Kind of a test the waters and see what will be accepted, if you will.

And don't kid yourself. It won't stop there.

I can see that, I'm just saying we shouldn't have wasted time and money to put them up in the first place and we wouldn't be flipping out about it now if we didn't

Strongly disagree. There is nothing wrong with remembering your history. Nobody's history is perfect. Some is good, some is bad, some is awful. But the fact is, nothing that happened a hundred plus years ago has any bearing on the people alive today. Tearing down statues and trying to erase history will do nothing to change the fact that it happened. And if we would rather hide from it and pretend it didn't happen rather than learn from it, then there is not much to say.

There's nothing wrong with feeling that way, and I respect your opinion on that.

The problem is that people tearing down the statues are making that decision for EVERYBODY and that's definitely wrong.

The other problem is that the people doing these things accuse you of being a hateful racist bigot if you disagree with them and that's extremely wrong. Not only extremely wrong but sowing discord and resentment.
