In everyday life, you're right. But it does seem to describe these Harvard "experts."

Also, you live in the Dallas area. If you lived in certain parts of the country I bet you'd find people who do have those extreme views.
No doubt people have extreme views of all sorts, I just don't think any one person holds all the extreme views that get attributed to the various labels. I've traveled the country and around the world and find that when I sit down and speak to folks, listen to folks, their views are varied & sometimes complex but really not all that different at the core when we're able to have a calm, rational dialogue, regardless of whether its in the US or elsewhere on the planet. Most folks just want have a peaceful, happy life, care about others to the extent they are able, don't want to trod on the poor, etc etc

I've also met some folks that just want to fight & be argumentative with zero intention of seeking enlightening dialogue and I've met others that I'm afraid to say might have lost their mind or are prone to conspiracies. I've yet to figure out how to engage the latter, I tend to just listen and think "wow" while they lay out their beliefs, ideas, ramblings

If teachers didn't attempt to push their personal views and opinions on children this wouldn't be a problem. You want every kid to understand mathematics and are afraid homeschooling parents aren't capable of this I get it. If you're afraid children won't get the opportunity to socialize, I get this too. But the problem is schools go well beyond teaching and turn into preaching. My daughter will go to school but I couldn't imagine what I'd do if I lived in a school district where the teachers were bad when it comes to pressing their opinions and beliefs on the children.

My daughter HATES Trump. She has no clue as to why, but she hears it from her teachers, so it has to be true in her mind.

You know that’s really the underpinning of a lot of views. Individuals will simply hear someone who they think are authority figures say something and it is accepted as fact. I am always running across statements by individuals who think they are stating something correctly but when I ask them for the basis of their statements they either go blank or get indignant. They usually don’t however have a basis for some opinions.

Does she think people in other countries don't have to work and produce something? Only in evil America?

I wonder if she's that big a useful idiot or if she just wants unemployment to stay high to try to make Trump look bad.

To try and make Trump look bad and the hope that she can gets more voters on welfare for her and her dumbass squad and the rest of the lefties that want more people reliant on the government.

Yep, it's probably both.

But let's take this farther. Does she think in her perfect state that people shouldn't have to work? What society in the world could ever function that way? Is she really this blind? I don't get it.

She isn't blind. She wants what many socialists want. Complete control over the people. Total power. They crave it. And they will not stop at anything to obtain it.

I read an article a while back about a guy (Saikat Chakrabarti, the co-founder of Justice Democrats) who may be behind the scenes pumping out her talking points. He sounds like he could qualify as the far left caricature discussed earlier in this or another thread.

I'm not convinced their sole motivation is power, I think they actually believe the world would function better if things were done their way and power is merely a means to their ends. Of course, like anyone, if they ever got absolute power, they would abuse it like anyone else, humans cant handle that much power, it turns them insane imo

From the right: Meet AOC’s Brain

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “cadre of far-left first-termers known as ‘the Squad’ ” have been at the center of “increasingly acrimonious infighting” among House Democrats, notes David Catron at The American Spectator. But the true “prime mover” behind the chaos is one Saikat Chakrabarti, the co-founder of Justice Democrats who has “now set up shop in the House, ostensibly as AOC’s chief of staff.” He has also been vocal on Twitter, berating “the Democratic leadership for its shortcomings” and calling out Speaker Nancy Pelosi in particular. Chakrabarti’s insolence is a clear sign that he doesn’t fear “any serious consequences,” Catron argues, despite Pelosi’s personal warnings in a “closed-door meeting.” He is using his position to “engineer a hostile takeover of the Democratic Party” by working “behind the curtain, furiously pushing buttons, spinning dials and pumping the smoke machine” for AOC and her “outrageous” comments.

This shit is going to kill them in November.
They want the lockdown to last until Nov so they can push for mail-in voting/ballot harvesting
