Well yeah, he was the youngest kid in the league his first year.

Damn it's a crime to have wasted the very best years of Tyron, Frederick, and Martin.

True, but that OL overhaul was unreal.

They went from not drafting one in the 1st to hitting homeruns on those three within just a few years.

Yeah I mean our run game was by far at it's best when Steele was in at RT for what it's worth. From what we saw just past year there wasn't really a drop off between Steele and Collins at RT. I think the Cowboys view Steele as an ascending player who works his ass off and view Collins as a descending player whose injuries may limit him the rest of his career.

Steele blew at LT though and now we need a swing tackle backup pretty badly. And given Steele's lack of experience and Smith's likelihood of injury we kind of need a high quality backup.

That's what I'm thinking, too. I know people were fawning all over him this past year, but I think that was because we all expected him to suck ass like he did the year before. He truly did take a giant step forward in his development, and for that deserves a lot of credit. But he still needs to keep improving if he wants to be a quality starter. I hope our gamble of letting Collins go doesn't blow up in our faces.

It could be but there was no noticeable upgrade when they put Collins back in at RT. I think the Cowboys at least viewed their performances as similar last year and came to the conclusion that Steele works his ass off and can still get better. They probably think Collins last year is what he will be.

I don't agree with cutting Collins. I would have held on until someone traded something for the guy. But oh well.

I wouldn't have cut Collins either. I don't think he was playing his best last season at times but of course he was also playing for the first time in a year and a half.

I think if he's playing at his best he's much better than Steele.

I do wonder about his motivation and I'd bet the team does too. I just think the team figures for the money they'll be fine without him. Not to mention I'm sure they were frustrated with there always being something with him.

I look at it as he's somewhat cheap for a RT of his caliber and we won't really spend the money elsewhere anyway so I'd just as soon keep a good player.

I think this is exactly right. And they know Steele at least is motivated. I think they figured if it's close, save the money and the headache of trying to play the UDFA over the 15 mil OT if Steele wins the job.

And I thought Steele was utter trash before last year. I wanted nothing to do with him and thought that Knight kid was better. So what the hell do I know. Steele shocked most of us.

That's good, except I think in Amari Cooper's case. We cut off our nose to spite our face there. He was productive, a role model, and a teacher.

That’s def true, but also his production was significantly down last year for a host of reasons. I think Stephen got his financial sphincter in a bunch.
