In 1960, when the NFL approved the expansion, allowing the proposed Dallas franchise, Wynne was present. At the time most people believed Wynne was a major partner in the Dallas Cowboys franchise. While he is a co-founder, he only owned about 5% of the team. He was the director and secretary of this newly formed team and is the person that announced that Tex Schramm would be the team's general manager. He is pretty much the "forgotten" founder.
Wynne sold his shares in the franchise in 1967 and moved on to help organize the New Orleans Saints NFL franchise.
