The transition tag is sort of shit anyway. They basically get to go out and be a free agent. You just get a chance to match what ever offer he accepts.
It’s not shit, though. If they transition tag him and someone offers and we don’t match, we get two 1st rounders from the team that signs him.

No that's the franchise tag. You get nothing in return if you don't match the transition tag. Now there are two types of franchise tags which is what you're probably thinking of. There is an exclusive and a non exclusive franchise tag. Exclusive is more expensive but no one can even offer your player. The non exclusive means you get 2 firsts.

If another club offers a contract to a transitioned player, his original club has seven days to decide whether to match that offer or not. If the original club agrees to match, the player is forced to sign with the original club at the terms agreed to in the offer by the other club. If the original club declines to match, the player signs with the other team, and the original team is offered no compensation, as they would be if the player had received the franchise tag.

Ahh, you’re right. I was thinking of the non-exclusive franchise tag.

If they are passing on Jones, I have no issues. But if they don't get Quinn and say Cobb back with his price, they failed.

Quinn is more important than Cobb, IMO. But, we should be able to afford both with Jones leaving, so long as Quincy 2.0 doesn’t suck up even more of the shit ton of cap space that he wants.

I completely agree. Prescott, Cooper, and Quinn are the three deals they need to get done. And as you said, Cobb with the right price.

Gregory and Irving on their way to the league office to 'apply for reinstatement':

With the new CBA they kind of have to let Gregory back don't they? Irving had other issues. But who knows where Gregory's body is at now.

The whole thing strikes me as odd. Correct me if I make wrong, but what I've read says that there would be a much smaller window of testing and simply fines for failing, not suspensions. If that's truly the case, why even bother at all? It's simply a pain in the ass that nobody needs and clearly nobody cares about. Just stop testing outright and be done with it. Anything else is a charade.

I think Gregory at least cares about football, unlike Irving. I expect that Gregory will be back at some point.
