Welcome to the Jeanty or Golden at 12 fan club.
More of a trade down a bit and take a DT fan, but I do like Golden a lot. And Jeanty, but it looks like he'll be gone.

If we did it after a trade down, I wouldn't even mind Hampton, though I do think there are good backs later. (Just don't wait too long.)

Yeah I think most fans would be thrilled with a trade down. And honestly there are usually callers for the Cowboys to do it. But of course if there aren't you kind of have to take someone.

Jeanty and Graham are just about the only two guys who I think are no-brainers to sit and pick.

Anybody else I could argue a trade down of 5-10 spots and adding a 2 would be better.

McMillan? Rather trade down and take Golden or Egbuka.

Johnson? Rather trade down and take Barron, or even Johnson himself.

Green? Rather trade down and take Pearce, Williams, Stewart or possibly even Green himself.

But yes, we may just have to sit and pick, in which case I'd be perfectly fine with some of the trade down targets like Golden, one of the DE's or even Barron.

Did you see the number of big plays he ripped off? There is a reason he had some of the best yards after contact. I'm an Iowa fan so I get I'm biased but that dude was a big play waiting to happen. Partially because he is kind of like Derrick Henry, once that weight gets moving he is impossible to tackle. I think the 40 time doesn't match the tape. Which I get some will say I'm only saying that because it's Kaleb. But the guy tore off a lot of big runs.

And mind you it was in an offense that couldn't pass their way out of a wet paper sack. He was the offense.
While speed is nice, it's not everything. Give me a guy that has power. Balance. Vision. And it makes his slower time a whoooole lot more palatable.

Emmitt Smith was a 4.55-4.6 guy.

Honestly, just looked to me like he had sloppy form. Go meet with a track guy and he probably runs a 4.5 flat anyway. I don't get too alarmed unless it's something totally out of the ordinary. Like a 4.7-4.8 or something. Then it starts to be concerning.

Like the Miami 5'10" WR running in the 4.8's that would worry me.

  • 40-Yard Dash: Smith ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds, 4.53 seconds and 4.46 seconds.
Not as slow as he's always made out to be

And he was faster on the football field

40 times are huge for RB's IMO, right behind college production

Imo, they’re overrated as far as timed events go. 10 yard splits and shuttle times are more important.

Emmitt running a 4.46-4.53 literally 35 years ago is probably equivalent to about a 4.4 now, which is ridiculous given his play style.

Acceleration is way more important than long speed at any position
I'm surprised with all the technology in this world we don't get more detailed info like acceleration. Put a GPS on a guy and you could get his instant acceleration at any moment during a 40 for example.

The 10-yard split is a decent proxy for acceleration.

I agree but feels like there is a better way then that. And then when you get private workouts that 10 yards is so bang bang you'll never get an accurate time on it without electronic timing.

Campbell with his injuries could be a real surprise drop during the draft. Sounds like there could be knee and shoulder worries. Not sure how far but a talented dude who people could be shocked when he falls. Nakobe Dean surprise fall.
He is a much more sound player than Dean was. His fall would not be that bad.

So basically you are saying we are fucked.

No we'll get a good player, I just don't see many who stand out above the rest and there are .multiple guys at each of our need positions who I think we could get between 12-20.

My latest mock with trades. First time I'd done a full 7 rounder though. Think I'd be thrilled with this.

The other thing, is Emmitt never seemed freaky quick either. He was either just smooth, or tough, or both together. But always smooth.

I'll say it again, Emmitt looked quicker in person. For some reason it just didn't show up on TV.

I remember Switzer said the same thing the first time he saw him live.
